First up - this is not a troll thread. I love watching Wilder fight, and personally enjoy his corny pre-fight shenanigans. Boxing needs more characters, and at heavyweight especially. His fights are usually bonkers in one way or another and fun. But that's what is SO frustrating. Where is he? Why is he not fighting, or even negotiating actively for a fight? The forum is always getting het up about who Usyk/Fury/Joshua should or should not be fighting - but at least they are fighting. Fury vs Ngannou sucks massively, of course - but at least he has said he will fight Usyk next. No one wanted Usyk vs Dubois, but that is a proper opponent. Same for Joshua - his opponents haven't been great, but he's been active coming off a couple of losses to the main man in the division. SO - where is Wilder? Why did he not fight Ruiz? Why has he not fought an up and comer? Or a fringe contender? Or...and hear me out...a CONTENDER? Why is he not in proper fights? I would LOVE to see him in with contenders such as Dubois, Ajagba, Hrgovic, Makhmudov, Sanchez. Him vs belt holders (or former belt holders) such as Zhang or Joyce are dream/fantasy fights. How about fringe guys such as Wallin? People are constantly saying Joshua should fight Wallin - why not Wilder? That would be an interesting style matchup for him to prep for Usyk down the line? He's a fun fighter - with many intriguing rivals. WHY are we not getting to see him fight?
OP, essentially agree with you. To answer your question: he's thinking up another way that Fury "cheated" him in those losses. AJ, Fury, etc. get some heat here, but there both better sportsmen than he is. He's been in a war of words w/ AJ for going on a half decade. I want to see DW fight a legit top 10 HW or just go away. One more point Ruiz deserved a bit more from what I've seen he was offered. SMH
Boxing business of today. Got enough of a name that he is just waiting on a Saudi cheque for a big fight. Plus Deontay is like 37 or so,he doesnt wanna stay active,he just wants big money fights.
I think he was hurt badly in the trilogy with Fury and it took a lot out of him. Cash out only from here.
He's basically retired now and simply hanging on for that one final big payday, likely vs Joshua. So I wouldn't expect him to fight anyone else until that fight happens and if it doesn't he'll probably just eventually retire. I doubt he'll hang around and end up being used up by upcoming fighters.
I don't want to start another thread but is AJ going to fight Fury or Wilder? Like these guys are getting old I cannot believe he hasn't got in the ring with at least one of them yet. Just make the fight with Wilder Jesus
He’s a ****, overhyped fighter that got exposed against Fury 3 times…He can retire, no one will care…He knows he’ll lose to the other top guys in the division…
Ruiz pricedhimeslf out, he a ducker, he ducked Fury, and Hrgovic in this febuary, that is why he isnt in top rankings anymore (Ring) Hrgovic - Wilder has all the reasons to fight Hrgovic now, big name, best spot, next mandatory - but he know he cant beat him and money isnt good, and career is over Zhang, same as Hrgovic, big name, only bigger cash bag, but he know he cant beat Zhang Dubois, Ajagba are not names nor money grabbers, Wilder beats them Makmudov is dangerous but no money, Wilder might beat him, just might Sanchez is a great fight, name, beatable, money Joyce is a great fight, name, maybe beatable, money Wallin has an opportunity for the tilte shot against Hrgovic or he will fight AJ and winner of them will fight Hrgovic for IBF belt Joshua is the best possible fight, Hearn cant allocate the money
the best thing for his legacy is to stay inactive the moment he gets knocked out by someone who isn’t Tyson Fury, the weird superhuman mythos some boxing fans give him disappears
The only fight that will bring him money and won't threaten his delusion of grandeur is probably Usyk or Joshua.
You say that but do you really think Wilder would have fought Fury if he didn’t think he was done. Cherry pick went back and was backed in to a corner
The chances of either happening are diminishing by the year. Would not be surprised if we never see either.
