The fight is in no worse shape today than it was two months ago. It has been obvious for at least a couple months the fight wasn't going to happen next. And yet, Wilder trains. He consistently has trained, even during the lag between Fury III & Helenius.

I think he'll fight at least once more. We'll see tho.

Still would knock your obese azz with a grazing shot straight up from the couch into the 75th row. Fact.

Hearn said a number of times during the past couple of months that he was 100% sure the Wilder fight in Saudi would be made.

Do you have a source for that claim?

The interview I heard from Hearn less than a week ago was that the fight is still being negotiated.

Hearn was talking in riddles as usual but said he and Finkel were still working on it.

Sad thing is Wilder used to be one of the most consistently active HWs in the world. Regularly fought three times and year then dropped to twice a year. Now not a single fight lined up for the entire year. He's probably still in great shape, but you have to question where his heart and his head are at this point.

Absolutely. Dreams are free but this just won't be happening in December.

I think that the Wilder twerking video and the Tank dancing in his underwear videos were made for Al Haymon. Haymon said I will get you big pay days but I need a little favor in return. These are the only videos leaked so far who knows what other favors Haymon had some of the PBC guys do in exchange for the big pay days.

    The exact opposite

He’s someone who had no option but to fight to make something of himself, and despite being limited in experience and skill he managed to make millions

He wears his Olympic bronze with pride, not crying because he didn’t get gold

He went life and death with this generation’s top HW over 3 fights despite being a Limited fighter and he never gave up

    He’s definitely a fighter

Those Fury beatings have taken their toll and he’s waiting for his pay day cash out, I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s completely shot to bits when he comes back in a big fight

Interesting to read some of the replies here.

Personally, I think Wilder is a real fighter, but have always been disappointed with the way it seemed both the PBC and the WBC treated him with kid gloves. The WBC only enforcing mandatories with Stiverne and Ortiz, both of whom he had already defeated were disappointing - given the depth of opponents we could've seen in their place. This era has had a lot of potential matchups for him, so I'm just disappointed we haven't got to see them.

The thing I keep coming back to is - years in the future, how will people see him? If he comes back and defeats Joshua for example, he will probably be massively hyped in mythical H2H matchups as a killer who could potentially beat anyone with his power. If he comes back and loses to Joshua, he will be remembered as a glass cannon who lost every time he stepped up to world class. Neither of these characterizations feel accurate (or fair) - so it's just a minor tragedy that we haven't seen him in the matchups that his resume and potential legacy sorely need.

He will remain an enigma, as it stands. And will be debated endlessly.

I think he should take this open window of opportunity to take on Joshua. No shame losing to a former semi-dominant champion in a big money fight. Leaving it too long and losing to someone without Joshua's historical profile, for modest money, translates into a far worse legacy. And he still could beat Joshua on any given day at this stage.

Still waiting on the day he can carry a baby to term instead of relying on a woman to do it for him.

That's something he actually said once. Seriously, look it up.

But aside from that, probably just waiting on the day he can get another really big money fight or two before finally retiring. Not to be dramatic or anything, but the fights with Fury in 20/21 are the types that takes years off of a fighter's life, and losing his belt in such a one sided loss and losing his chance to get it back probably took a lot out of him mentally. The next paycheck is gonna have to have a lot of zeroes on it to lure him back into the ring.

That said, if he fails to get the sort of purses he wants, it wouldn't surprise me if we didn't see him in the ring again. I'm not saying he's retired right now, I do believe he's staying in good shape for the potential huge money fights, but he probably won't fight for anything less than them. As it stands currently, he'd be retiring with a first round knockout against a guy who just came off of upsetting an undefeated fighter who once seemed to show some promise and who then went on to last seven rounds against AJ while giving him a harder time. If he can't get the fights he wants, I'm sure he'd be more than happy with that being his last one.

The IBF have elevated Wallin to #2 in their just released rankings meaning Joshua is no longer in the box seat to fight Hrgovic for what will likely become the vacant IBF title.

This development means there is no longer any good reason why Wilder and Joshua should not meet each other next. That said, what we will more likely get is Wilder fighting nobody and Joshua fighting another nobody.

This was my first thought as well, but I can still see Hearn swerving the fight and getting what he wants too.

Setting up AJ-Wallin before Undisputed even happens isn't out of the realm of possibility. Of course, I can see Wallin beating this current version of AJ, so it's a risky fight I'm not entirely sure Hearn would wanna make without a title on the line. Then again, I'm sure the fight being made in London with the right selection of judges would go a long way in soothing his worries.

I really hate to think that way, but if there's one thing I've learned in my short time as a boxing fan, it's never underestimate the odds of a fight everyone wants to see not happening for the dumbest reasons
