Sorry if this thread has been done before. I just listened to Max and Marcellus on EPSN Radio, and Max Kellerman was asked where he had Mayweather now and where he'd be if he beat Gennady Golovkin. Even though some will say Golovkin hasn't taken on real competition(for good reason...), he is still the best middleweight killer out there right now. So, if 40 year-old Floyd Mayweather took on 33 year-old Gennady Golovkin at 154 and WON, how far up would you move him- if at all? Kellerman said right now he has him Top 15, and if he beat Golovkin, Top 5.
I have him at #2,782 right now just like Sugar Ray Leonard. A win at 160 would move him into the top 20, possibly the top 15. :nod I wonder if Sugar Ray feels the same way? :think
I've got him around 40 since I don't think the Pac fiasco helped either of their legacies, after the way it was fought and the controversy surrounding it. If both he and Pac had looked good the winner would have risen to top 30 territory, but that's only in the best case scenario. If he beat GGG he'd be about top 20 or so where Sugar Ray Leonard is.
Just simplifying this... Golovkin, regardless of his current historical relevance, is the most feared middleweight in the WORLD right now on a 30 KO win streak, undefeated, and just a monster. And hypothetically, if a past-prime Mayweather beat him, he would get ZERO brownie points?
I know you're being patronizing, but the sarcasm is really funny and made me laugh, so imma let it go you became my new fav user w/ that post
He can't step foot in the ring with a prime elite like GGG, let alone beating him. The idea of Floyd surviving 12 rounds against GGG is laughable.
GGG is a top top fighter no doubt but his resume has no ATG's in it but that's not his fault. If he beat GGG now it would move him up the latter but perhaps isn't as defining as it might be thought as initially.
he is in the top of his own atg listing but far from the atg list of great fighters likes SRR, Fab 4, mini Fab 4, etc
:huh You Excusequiao casuals always recycle the same garbage. What's there to be sorry about? It's how you guys are. Beating a weight drained GGG does nothing for Floyd. Floyd is clearly the best of this era having just schooled someone who was supposed to be his greatest challenge.
Right now (Top 15); If he beat GGG at 160 (Top5-10). Mainly because it would be unchartered territory for him and give him a title in his 6th division.
