I have a thread on this, two weeks old. Floyd is Floyd, and he'll be Void for as long as his nuthuggers buy his baloney sandwiches.
Where is the announcement about Pavlik vs. Martinez? That fight is supposed to be in April. How come Wlad vs. Chambers was just announced yesterday? That fight is in March. These things take some time. No news is good news in this situation.
I thought they would've made the announcement already and get going with the press tour already. THIS FIGHT IS NOT HAPPENING
good question they said by last friday .....so we wait and hope Floyd steps up to the plate you know Mosely is down for that retirement fund payday
Find me a source where news was promised by now. Steve Kim had a tweet where he said it COULD be announced by as early as last Friday. Golden Boy, nor representitives of Mosley or Mayweather made any promises. Ellerbe specifically said last Thrusday that a fight of this magnitude takes some time. Being as no bad news from a credible source has been leaked, I'm not worried about it.
Kevin Iole puts it at "85-90%" that the fight happens. http://sports.yahoo.com/box/news;_y...?slug=ki-boxmailbag012610&prov=yhoo&type=lgns They are probably arguing over purse split. Sugar Shane will give in soon and take the 30%. I'll be worried if there is no announcement by Sunday, which will be 3 months before the fight. I honestly can't see Shane letting this one pass him by.
Here is why I am worried folks. There is a hang-up in my opinion. This week would seem like a good week to get the information out. *The Sooner you get the Fight out, Tickets can go on Sale. Easier opportunity for a sale out. I don't think the gate will do as well as the PPV. So the more time to sell tickets the better. *This is the week before the Super Bowl. This would be the best week to get it out. If it comes out next week it will get buried and American sports fans won't give a damn. And that is who they are targeting when it comes to PPV. If it comes out in 2 weeks, it will hurt ticket sales even more. *It doesn't take as long as people think. I mean come on. Let's see. You take 65%, he takes 35%. 10 or 8 ounze gloves, OK. Drug Testing, Ok. Getting sponsors shouldn't be hard. This is the 2nd biggest fight in boxing, the sponsors will be there. Here are 2 reasons why I think there is a hold up and it doesn't get done. Mayweathers is asking for a huge piece of the pot. Probably like 70% or 75%. And he is probably looking for a 15 million guarantee, and Richard Schaefer trying to find the money. If I was Mosley I would not let pride get in the way. If he has to take 25% he should do it. Remember Mosley turned down 12 million in 2003 for De La Hoya III on principle. This is different situation, but Mosley has a perception of himself being a big ticket seller when he is not. The reason why he should take what he can get is not going to make more money any where else. Now maybe Floyd is just pricing himself, maybe demanding like 80 or 90%, which would be silly. But I have a sinking feeling that GBP and Schaefer just can't this done to Mayweather's liking. Like I said if this fight was happening it would have been announced by now. The longer they wait the less likely we will see it. In the end Mayweather will blame Mosley and Mosley will blame Mayweather. Sorry folks, the fans always come in last when it comes this type of fight. The fighters will always talk about legacy and other B.S. but in the end it is all about money. It just sucks being a fan when you see a guy like Mayweather not taking big fights which are challenging. But in my opinion Mosley needs do his part to and not get too greedy. This his last chance at a megafight because if this doesn't get done, he is done as a big time fighter. I hope people close to him realize this too. My advice to all involved just get the damn thing done!! Boxing needs a big fight, don't fail the fans again. It bigger then both Mayweather and Mosley. I think that is what got lost in the Pacquiao and Mayweather promotion. It was all about them, but it is about the sport and the fans just as much as them because they need each other to survive.
