Anybody know why Juan Carlos Gomez has been so inactive lately? And is it just me who thinks that he could win a lot of good fights out there and still be a major factor at heavyweight, even at his age?:think
Funny thing is in 2010, Riddick Bowe was calling him out. Why in god's name did he rejct this fight? It would have made money, and the winner would have been an instant contender. wiki on Bowe: His current boxing record stands at 43-1 with 33 wins by way of knock-out. “No matter what, God is on my side,” Bowe said. “I’m not perfect, but I’m not the worst, either. God brought me this far. He’s not done with me yet.”[19] In early 2010 he said “I want to get back in the ring as soon as I can and Gomez would be a good fight for me.”[20]
Didn't he have Visa issues or something that did not permit him to leave for the UK and enter the tournament?
I remember hearing about this as well. I was actually quite shocked that Bowe wanted to fight Gomez without a few tuneups at the very least. Is it possible that they could have bumped into each other at some point around that time and exchanged harsh words, thus causing Bowe to call out Gomez?
I don't know, I hadn't heard one word about him since the tournament was scheduled. That's crazy talk. Nobody is reckless enough to fight Sconiers and Bowe in the same year! :admin
Well anyway, I hope that Gomez gets in shape and makes a serious go at the title. He can still beat a lot of good fighters out there.
Yet another fighter who refuses to fight el NINO, but at least he aint fighting anyone else either.:rofl Why is he still rated again:-(
I think Gomez is essentially finished. Like other Vitali victims, he just wilted and kind of disappeared. Age has caught up to him and I doubt we'll hear too much noise from him ever again. As for Bowe, do not ever take anything he says seriously. Bigfoot will likely appear before Big Daddy ever does.
