Where is Taylor? Who gives a ****! This is the guy who openly admitted that he doesn't even like boxing; doesn't watch the fights or follow the results. Just in it for the money. Taylor is an athlete; he just trains for the job, then picks up the pay-packet. I know the monetary benefits are all part of it, but even a fighter like PBF has the sport in his blood, and it always remains there. With Taylor, the glitter of the gold is everything.
I think Taylor has a difficult time accepting the fact that he's not the top dog..... Regardless I think he's still a top player in the division and someone that people love watchin because of his warrior spirit and determination....so come on get off your vacation and talk to the media boy.
Who cares? If he's taking on top competiton and giving us great fights, what difference does it make?
Just another name but not a factor. Jones wanted a piece of him but JT didn't want that fight. I don't think he will ever be the same and would get beat by somebody like Andrade, Miranda, and Kessler if he fought they right away or after a tuneup.
Is that not the point of the thread though? The guy has gone AWOL from his livelihood. And as far as top competition and great fights go??? What, you mean the two Hopkins robberies (in my opinion), the gift draw against Winky (in most people's opinion), and gettin his head kicked in against Pavlik. I won't even mention the string of blown up fighters he faced, except to quote "the life and death struggle with Spinks" and the "on your bike impression" versus Ouma.
The point of the thread is to complain about Taylors interest level in the sport? My bad. AWOL? Should be quite clear that the man is just taking a break from boxing and the media. He just lost twice and had a new baby. If you don't consider Hopkins, Winky and Pavlik top competiton, I don't know what to tell you. I never said he won all those fights.
Fair play:good I just remember him gettin interviewed after the spinks fight (I think), and well, the TV analyst asked him about who he wanted to fight next, and he said something along the lines of "I'll just go were the money is". It rubbed me up the wrong way is all I'm saying. I'd heard stuff before from him about how he doesn't follow the game. I'm not saying he is a bad person, just not your typical boxer-type (as we would like to perceive them). I would just question his heart when the going gets rough, and don't think we (the fans) should be overly concerned if he pulls a disappearing act.
:good That's cool man and Yeah, that Spinks fight was a disgrace and so were some of the comments he made afterwards. He kept yelling something about how you have to beat the champ and bring the fight to him or something like that. I can see how that would bother you. Talking all that trash and in reality, he was lucky as hell to get out of there with a win.
Bingo. Taylor is a fraud, an HBO-created hype job who got gift decisions because of his connections to a powerful television network. Who cares where he's gone. The only reason I'd like to see him back is so that some real fighter can knock him out again! :nod
