Big fan of the guy... He was only domestic level, but always came to fight and was always in some exciting ones. I'll never forget him exposing that roiding fraud Olubamiwo. He was wronged by the judges more than he should have as well. What happened to the British domestic heavyweight scene? Used to be so fun, and it was great to follow the guys who weren't world title contenders. Now it's only guys like Joshua, Fury, Price, and Chisora who matter.

Been over 2 years from the date which he last fought. Is he done?

The board called for McDermott/Whyte for the English Title (which isn't a bad fight) but no bids were lodged which is quite strange- Whyte really needs to sign with someone half decent pronto for his career progression.

I definitely care. Big John was awesome. How long ago did the board call for McDermott-Whyte? Also, if this vid was really taken 7 months ago, and assuming he has been in training since, Big John actually looks fairly "trim" by his standards. I say give it another go McDermott!!

Yep I agree but those fights did fury good. Tough test and got him more focused.

Definitely they did help him he hasn't struggled like that since I think it shamed him into training

Good fighter was McD always brought it and while he looked well over weight - he could fight. Absolutely thrashed Larry O so its not about how you look but if you can fight. Gave Fury probably two of his toughest tests.

For his weight McDermott had fairly decent conditioning... Not great, but not bad for a man his size.

he was good technically too, very tight defence for a heavyweight, had the basics nailed...loved watching him
