Been too inactive lately. Surely there are some keep busy fights for him at the very least. I haven't heard anything about him since the Botha fight. What's the scoop here?
S'up, Charlie? There was talk of him fighting David Price at one stage. It's all gone quiet, but, he is old now so perhaps he's winding down what's left of his career.
Not much Ilesey, just working hard to stay on track for graduation. How about you mate? I hope he doesn't take a fight with Price, all wrong for him. But I can still see him giving it one last go and beating one of these young guns before calling it a day. I'll be rooting for him.
Have wondered the same thing over past couple of months. he should've been fighting a string of cans in his hometown for a little bit of money until he generated some interest, then he could've got some descent money to face someone like fury instead of having to take whatever was offered by him or some other name guy
Being held in reserve for Deonte Wilder. I'm pretty confident they'll fight by the end of the year. After that he'll probably have no where to go.
Another Golota loss that becomes a win eh? Grant was ridiculously over hyped, but I kind of liked him. He kept getting up, and he had balls, I'll give him that. He got up to beat Golota. Obviously decided the best way for him to have a chance to beat Lewis was to just clock him as hard as possible, as early as possible. He landed a great shot early too. Unfortunately it then sparked a bit of a brutal onslaught from Lewis. At least he gave it his best shot, and went in with a do or die mentality. Plenty of other guys since have put in far meeker efforts when given a shot at the title. He also got up from the shot where George Foreman had me in stitches "he done broke his leg". He was an ok contender IMO. Better than he's given credit for IMO.
I never said he lost the Golota fight, but he was hammered there. Sure he got up, but it showed he has less that reliable chin. But they still rushed him to take the title shot. They never gave Grant a chance for seasoning to catch up with his potential.
Yeah, I tend to agree about being rushed. The Golota fight is the type of fight that can be great for an up and coming fighter. Toughing out a win against a top rated fighter. I honestly believe - outside of the Klitschkos -Grant around the Golota, Lewis fights is a match for any current HW. Hell, he did ok against the guy who now is ranked 3 or 4 recently.
Thinking about it, if I was managing Grant I'd put him on the older Rahman/Briggs career path. Fight half a dozen cans to get the name out there, then try and land a fight against Vittles.
