I just rewatched the Rios fight and i want to see more of this guy bad. He has the style that i really like. I would say he needs a new trainer too. SOmeone like Beristain would be great for him. This guys is no joke and damn he hurt Rios all over the place. Had he tied up some more in the mid rounds he could have won the decision or if he learned how to finish a fighter off better. I feel Rios was ready to go in the 4th round and he let him escape. Acosta vs anyone at LW would be a great fight.
I really like his style too, thought he out in a pretty good showing against Rios. Clearly hurt him at the end of the round 3 or 4. His fights with Moses and Antillon are nice fights too. Good wins also. I'd like to watch him fight Soto maybe?
He stunned him at the end of the 3rd round and Rios was still on shaky legs the entire 4th round. Some more precise punching combinations and Rios would have been out of there. Soto i feel would get beaten by Acosta. Soto doesnt really put heavy pressure which would be needed to beat Acosta.
I think Soto would struggle with Acosta's movement and crisp, hard combinations. However he should be able to get to Acosta and possibly hurt him. Acosta had the much more dominant performance than Soto against Antillon but styles do make fights and I could quite like to see this one. Maybe a fight with Marquez, but now he is fighting Pacquiao we aren't going to get to see that. A fight with Michael Katsidis would be good too.
Yeah I'd like to see this guy again. Nice active style with solid movement and underrated crunch in his punches.

Man why would you want to see Katsidis in with this guy?? You must not like him. Guy takes too much punishment. Acosta hurt Rios a guy who has a chin much better than Katsidis. I personally would not like to see this one. Either Katsidis needs to improve his defense or just look for one big final payday and call it a day. A fight with JMM would be awesome in a technical stand point. I dont know how good it would be for the casual fan. Its two technical counter punchers. I obviously give the edge to JMM but Acosta would make it very interesting.
Acosta didn't seem to handle pressure to well from the sort of hard punching Rios. How would he handle the pressure from one of the strongest lightweights I've seen, who hits quite hard indeed? Katsidis is coming off two hard losses, Acosta off his own. Its a great crossroads fight for them both that will guarantee action. I think we'll see where both men are in their respective careers with a fight like this. Katsidis doesn't have a great defence but he does make up for that with his chin and heart which will see him get through to Acosta. Aside from perhaps Guerrero, I don't think there is anybody out there who can beat Marquez at lightweight. I'd really look forward to a fight between Acosta and Marquez, just to see how Marquez handles the hard combinations of Acosta, and how Acosta handles a different sort of pressure in a counter punching combination puncher like Marquez.
As someone who's probably his biggest fan here, I hate to inform you guys that we might have seen the last of Aguacerito. I posted a thread on it prior to the Rios fight, and it's something that many people who've only become accquainted with him after said bout may be unaware of, and that is that after those three losses he suffered early on in his career, he was going to retire. He had his mind set on it, he was dejected, and he wanted out of boxing. The reason he came to his senses was because his father convinced him otherwise. He basically agreed to give it another go, underwent a huge improvement and racked up that impressive run of victories, beating the likes of Jose Alfaro, taking Anges Adjaho's '0', then the fight that garnered some attention against Urbano Antillion before winning the title against Paulus Moses in the champions backyard. So, as you can imagine, he was riding the crest of a wave, bristling with confidence, and why wouldn't he be? So, for him to be defeated in the fashion he was essentially brought those demoralizing feelings back. It's understandable, I mean you can just imagine how he must have felt, he did have an advantage style-wise, the only problem was that the substance Rios has with his style highlighted Acosta's two glaring weaknesses: his Jermain Taylor-esque ability to drastically fatigue over the course of the fight and his below average chin. He was handling Brandon with apparent ease early on, circling him, peppering him, then battering him, so for it to all crumble in the way it did with him tiring and then suffering a brutal knockout loss has left his morale at an all-time low. I know you'd question why he'd be so down-trodden, what with him obviously having world-class capabilities and the ability to mix it with the best. But it's when you turn in such a performance only to not have the glory at the end of it that would leave anybody questioning their future, in addition you have to take in the fact that he is in his 30's, and not exactly an attractive proposition for potential opponents, a relatively unknown Venezuelan who's coming off a loss won't be getting many offers, especially when you add the fact that he's a pretty excellent fighter into the equation. Whatever his decision may be, I hope it's just the best one for him. Maybe relatively new fans will be slightly peeved, but as someone who's followed him for a few years now, I'll just wish him all the best, whatever his final decision may be. As for a Katsidis fight, I think it's a good idea. We don't know how much either man has left. It'll be an appealing clash of styles, granted, it'll be disappointing for the loser, who'll likely be left on the scrapheap, but that's how so many fights are nowadays: winner moves forward, loser has a very difficult road to try to find their way back. It'll all hinge on the ''Rios-factor'' IMO, that is, if Katsidis can use his physical strength, go to the body enough, and whether the early storm of sharp, crisp combinations to wear Miguel down late on. Personally, I can't see him being able to accomplish that, Kat's has lost a step IMO, and if we still have the same Miguel Acosta, I think he might even be able to stop him. As for Marquez.............
You guys just want Aztec to come and make a day long argument on why Soto is God and why you are just "stoopid" for thinking other wise. Anyways Acosta is the ****!!!!!!!
