Anyone hear anything on him lately? Or did Wlady put him into retirement?

Who would like to see Ruslan Chagaev vs David Tua?

Ruslan fired his trainer and is looking for a fight I dont know who he can fight I think a Tony Thompson fight could get him ranked. He'd outbox Tua and win on points. Tua is past it and Ruslan is a very good boxer.

Very underrated fighter, IMO Wlad's best career win.

cant see him retiring,he took the Wlad fight at short notice and did not show himself up.He is often injured or ill so maybe that is keeping him out of action.

He should be fighting Kali Meehan later this year, then a shot at the WBA title. But im not sure because WBA has like 4 belts :S he could be fighting for a belt with Meehan.

it wasn't that far out a thought. i mean i'm biased cause i'm a big wlad fan but looking objectively, he had a great skill set, brilliant amateur background and obviously knew how to thoroughly outbox a ****ing sasquatch.

 Chagaev was well past it by the time he took on Wlad last year. His sickness and ring rust already set in. His fights against drummond and Skelton shown that.

Wlads best win was either Bryd 1 or Peter in 05.

Probably. Althought it was visible that Chagaev wasnt prepared to this fight.

I don't know about that. Chagaev and his trainer were confident (seriously confident not just talk) that they would win.

Ruslan from about 3 years ago would've been Wlad's toughest opponent. I don't know if he would've beaten Wlad (I can't remember if I thought he would) but I def thought he was the #2 HW behind Wlad.

Unfortunately injuries, inactivity and Don King ****ed his chances. Still a great win for Wlad though.

I thought (or hoped) the same, especially after how easy Ruslan made outboxing Valuev look over much of their fight...he was a counterpunching demon that night.

Peter ok, but Byrd I no, Byrd II was a much better fight, Chagaev was a top fight.
