This guy is capable of beating any HW. Id pick him to beat Wlad right now...maybe not AJ but def Wlad
Because he a PED cheat with a glass chin and nobody with an iota of boxing knowledge doesn't think he's better prospect than Anthony Joshua MBE
You base this on his tested-positive-for-roids win over a cruiserweight or on his big win over 43-year-old Monte Barrett, who had won exactly one of his previous eight fights?
He had trace amounts of Nadrolone in his system from some contaminated horse meat, horse is a very popular Cuban delicacy. Ortiz is not a drug cheat, and if he was he would not be banging Nandrolone as it stays in your system for a very long time. Nobody uses that **** anymore. The top guys are going to avoid Luis like the plague. :good
It takes about 10 seconds to google the accounts of his hearing before the commission. He lawyer did what lawyers do, spin a tale about horse meat and claim innocence. BUT, when questioned at length about his diet by the commission -- which was practically leading the Cuban horse to water -- he talked about eating beef, chicken, pork and vegetables ... and NEVER ONCE mentioned horse meat. Verdict: CHEATER.
He was busted for steroids. He is already 36. He has zero big wins. That is why there is little hype. What he has going for him is a good amateur system, talent and a good promoter backing him. He will be on HBO in December. My advice would be to fight best available contender. His age he needs to move fast and make a splash. The vidondo's of the world do nothing for him.
The circumstances surrounding his conviction are very shady, look into it a bit. He hasn't got any big wins because nobody wants to fight him, already sent the likes of Povetkin and Jennings running scared. The guy is huge and fights like a MW, very fast hands, great footwork and serious power. Surprised people aren't more hyped on him
I dunno, I've been seeing a bit of buzz and have started watching him because of it - the fact you have made a post is clear evidence that people are talking about him He is definitely interesting, I think top 5 is a bit too much but he is definitely one to watch - shame he had a naughty with the drugs, he'd be better off if he hadn't and if he was where he is now 5 years ago then that'd be all the better. I watches his fight this weekend and couldn't help but notice his height and weight are pretty much identical to Joseph Parker's right now - obviously not as in shape (ie, he's "bigger" and "softer"), which would account for how much quicker Parker looks (IMHO) but the power looks similar. Technically there are some pros and cons for each. The dude needs to move quickly, age is going to start catching up but I think he has the potential to do some damage first
I expected him to step up like 3 years ago. He wasn't particularly young then and is pretty old now and just wouldn't fight a top 15 HW to save his life. I lost interest meanwhile.
