Seriously how come no one is talking about this fight? You have two undefeated, prime, unified champions going at it for the undisputed crown. And most of the threads on the General forum are about Paul freaking Gallen. Get a grip people!!!
Taylor-Ramirez is going to be an action fight, most people think Taylor will win but no sure thing. What's to talk about? Meanwhile Gallen is intriguing, a mystery wrapped in a riddle wrapped in bacon.
Sure, it should be bigger but it's really obvious why its not. Jose Ramirez, albeit, a world champion, is completely unknown to the masses and even amongst boxing fans is very much under the radar. All his fights have been on very meager cards. The biggest card he has been on was Pac-Man vs Timothy Bradley in 2016 where he fought before anyone arrived in the arena. He has once been on the undercard of a Arthur Beterbiev fight and also once on a Oleksandr Gvozdyk undercard, where both opponents were nobodies. Recently, he has been on DAZN against Maurice Hooker and on ESPN+ against Viktor Postol. I can't imagine the viewing for either show was anything above 500,000. His promoter is Bob Arum as he is signed with Top Rank. He has zero chance of gaining any star appeal whatsoever with Uncle Bob the dinosaur. Also, I listened to one of his interviews, and Jose is burned out and I also think he has depression. That's quite sad if it is true. He is married with 2 children so I don't know, having kids must be different too. He always comes across and humble and respectful. On the other hand, Josh Taylor (whom I favor to win by KO in a very easy fight) should absolutely be a big star in the UK, but he is not. I can also understand why this is, I think. He has been convicted of racial abuse in a court of law, called Ohara Davies a homophobic slur at a press conference and has social media posts about anti-COVID beliefs, conspiracy theories. There is also his history on Twitter since before he turned pro, I won't go into what he posted as there is no proof with screenshots but many people remember what he used to post. All that makes him very unattractive to brands and companies. However, even outside of all that, he has never had popular appeal for some reason. I guess, he doesn't come across as likeable for some reason. I think when companies like Adidas or Lucozade look for sportsperson to represent their brands he is not their ideal person. I would say Josh Taylor has elite level talent and boxing skills. I said a few years ago that he would undoubtedly go down as the Scottish ATG and still believe this to be the case. About not coming across as likeable to the masses; the negative is that he will make less money from endorsements and be less or a household name, and the positive is that his spitefulness and meanie character will give the mental toughness and attitude to succeed in the ring and have the balls to take the biggest fights and win. Overall, I think it's the best thing for him. He will prove to himself and everybody that he is the best Scottish fighter ever. I believe he will chase all the biggest fights and do exceptionally well.
This is one of my most anticipated fights this year. I generally don’t give a crap who else watches but I understand the sentiment of wanting more people to see these types of matchups. The Vazquez Marquez fights should have been much bigger fights than what they were marketed as, especially when you see the results of the first three. I went to the first fight and they didn’t have any merchandise to sell. I went to the third as well, and again, no merchandise at all.
What's the old saying about polishing a turd? (LOL) This is a poor division. Ramirez isn't very good. I thought Postol beat him last time. During the postfight, Ramirez acted like Postol beat him, too. They can throw literally every belt in the division on top of this fight (which they have done), and still, nobody really cares. This Taylor-Ramirez fight for ALL the belts in a division might be the worst four-belt unification matchup in recent memory. In a decent division, these guys would be fighting each other to crack the top 10. Hell, every lightweight champion below and every welterweight champion above is better than two-belt super lightweight champ Ramirez. I am looking forward to this fight like I'm looking forward to the first Bridgerweight title fight. Honestly, looking at both, I am actually looking forward to the first Bridgerweight title fight more. The first Rivas-Jennings fight was actually a good fight. I'm not looking forward to Taylor-Ramirez at all, really. But, if you can get to one champ in a bad division, that's better than four champs in a bad division.

I am very excited for this fight, as it should be an excellent matchup and very entertaining. I am shocked this fight is getting hate on this board. Isn't this what we want people? Champs fighting champs? Belt unification for undisputed? Now that we have one of these rare instances on our hands people STILL want to complain. Boxing fans, get it together.
In one thread, people say we should ignore belts. In other threads, people say we should be excited about a mediocre fight because ALL the belts are involved. It gives me whiplash. (LOL) Ramirez isn't very good. He'd lose to all the champs below and above him. He lost to Postol. But he has two belts, and Taylor has two belts, so we're supposed to get excited about THE FOUR BELTS. If you are excited about Josh Taylor winning all the belts in a bad division, just say, "I'm excited about Josh Taylor winning all the belts in a bad division." (LOL) Just be honest. I can see that. 18 fights. 4 belts. But this fight isn't any more compelling than Ramirez-Hooker. It's a bad division. The second best fighter in this division just fought on a Jake Paul undercard in a fixed fight. It's a bad division. This is the ABSOLUTE BEST this division has to offer, and it isn't much. Taylor will win. But, like I said, one champ in a bad division is better than four champs.

Taylor will be undisputed in a better 140 than Crawford did, and a lot of Crawford's P4P milage comes from being undisputed at 140. Prograis already is a better win than anything Crawford did at 140. Which is why Crawford's stagnation at 147 is so disappointing. I don't think Raimrez is quite as bad as you are making out, I think he had an off night againts Postol, and I'm expecting him to be much better against Taylor for all the marbles. One thing I can guarantee is that if Taylor does beat Ramirez and then moves up to 147, he will go straight for the best - win, lose or draw.
Really looking forward to this I like Josh Taylor a lot. Whoever wins this is the man at 140 who will be able to have mega fights with Tank and Teofimo Lopez and the big dogs at 147.
Regarding belts, some are obviously much more valuable than others and hold different weight with the fighters and fans alike. To say all belts should be ignored however is just rubbish (not suggesting you personally are saying this), as there has to be a way to crown the best. In a perfect world of course there is one belt per division, but we all know how far removed from reality that is. But yes, you should be excited for all four belts being on the line, with the top 2 fighters in a division facing each other. What else do you want? You are insistent that the division is weak, and that may be so. But if you are not interested in this fight, then you should just ignore the division because this is as good as it gets. I have no allegiance to either fighter, but wow was Taylor vs Prograis a great fight to watch. I want more of that in this sport, and this fight could very well deliver in the same way. You say this fight is not more compelling that Ramirez vs Hooker? I doubt many would agree with you on that. I am interested in any undisputed fight no matter the weight class. As boxing fans, our biggest gripe is that the best don't fight the best. In this case, the two best are fighting each other. This is good for the division, and great for the sport. You should be happy this is happening, even if you aren't going to watch. Nitpicking and downplaying the importance of this fight is bizarre to me, and in doing so has a negative impact overall to boxing and future matchmaking.
