Come on guys! All this Pac v Money talk is getting boring and stale real quick.

Don't get me wrong I'd give my left nut to see this pair go head to head but, in the meantime, we have to make do with what we've got and what we've got come 22 May is the fourth installment of one of the greatest series of fights in the history of our great sport.

Whilst pedictably Money v Sugar (bar round 2) was about as exciting an R rated porno , Vasquez v Marquez guarentees toe to toe action and a no-holds barred war yet I'm hearing zip about this inevitable classic.

Who gives two shits if these guys are past it! They want it and they will bring it! I am flying in from Sydney Australia for it so it has to be good! Who from here will I be sseing at Staples comes May 22?

I don't care about Pac/Money that much either but I don't like this fight. I worry about these guys ruining each other without a purpose. I mean, what if Marquez wins? Jesus, then is there going to be a best of five? This is getting sadistic.

Edit: Young people today are down on R-rated porn because the magic is gone with free Internet X-rated porn. It's sad.

I hear what you are saying because I sure would hate to see eitehr get hurt. The other part of me is saying "If this is what they really want then, out of respect, they can have my 250 bucks".

It sounds like I'm going to be the only person there at the Staples! Bummer from an atmosphere perspective!

These 2 warriors get very little attention considering the fact that they've given us on of the greatest trilogies in the history of boxing.

Abner/Perez is going to be a barnburner too.

There's already been closure in this rivalry. If Marquez manages to beat out a Vazquez whose progression to "shot" has more rapidly accelerated, it will do a disservice to the already great story of the trilogy. Likewise, if Vazquez knocks Marquez out, it will only prove that the bigger stronger man who already proved his (slight) superiority is still able to win after both have gained a few pounds, a few years, and reaped the physical benefit of having cranked the meat grinder handle on each other for umpteen rounds.

It could be another classic. It could also be a very pitiful spectacle. Either way, it's not going to determine the future king of featherweights.

Let's hope they put on a good show, get it out of their system, and retire together (off a draw, that's best case scenario :yep). I don't like either of these proud battle-scarred warriors stepping in with the young guns atop the division. Gamboa or Lopez? No way! And the also-rans have terrible risk-reward ratios. Juarez or Lock? I like both guys, but in terms of risk-reward, ick!

...actually, there is one also-ran who's not too much of a threat, and who I'd like to see get roughed up by either (or both) of them. Billy Dib. :firedevi:

I agree with the last three posts.

I've seen enough from both. They are already legendary.

Yeah, if I were more articulate I would've said this exactly. But I'm not so I said "Duh-duh-duh-duh, they hurt, no reason is bad" and shat myself for using my brain too much.

Personally - I feel a bit guilty even thinking about looking forward to this fight.

Those two have knocked several years off of each others lives with those three fights, a fourth seems like a guilty pleasure I don't want to be directly supporting - Cause I would hate to see either guy end up seriously hurt in the ring from the beatings they've dished out on each other.

Wanting this fight is like wanting:

    Ali-Frazier IV

    Gatti-Ward IV

    Bowe-Holyfield IV

All these other trilogies had one thing in common with Vazquez-Marquez: the fighters involved beat the ever loving **** out of each other to the most brutal degree. These were the type of beatings that shorten careers and one day could show lasting effects. These kinds of matchups with fighters of their temperments mean they inflict maximum damage on each other...no gunning for winning rounds just back and forth exchanges of sheer venom. Seeing what the other guy can take and showing him what you can take.

Guys who fight these fight never agree to "take it easy" because of their pride. And someone can truly get hurt because of it. Thank goodness Eddie Futch understood this for the Thrilla in Manila and chose to save Frazier from himself as well as Ali.

This might very well be a strong FOTY contender, but I find it difficult to muster up serious enthusiasm for a fourth fight when the trilogy had a decisive winner and the damage suffered by both was very apparent in their next fights.

On the topic, I just don't think I would love to see them again. We already knew they are almost equal. Both great gutsy warriors.

It would be painful to watch it TBH, eventhough I love action-packed fights.
