Cool, so it's not just me then. I may need to break out the dictionary and look up the word "neutral" to help folks out here.

The problem is there is a difference between 'neutral' and 'disinterested'.

And what you describe in your OP (people not turning up until the main event, only going for the glamour rather than actually being boxing fans) sounds a lot more like the latter than the former. I'm not sure why it would be a good thing to have more fights in front of disinterested crowds rather than enthusiastic crowds of actual boxing fans?

I don't get it, Mayweather could fight Pac anywhere in the world and he will not be favoured.
Against Hatton, the fight coulda been at the north pole and Hatton fans woulda travelled. So doesn't matter where is fight is held, nowhere will be neutral.

Come on now, those weren't the only fans I described as being at those fights. And like it or not, disinterested becomes neutral. But still, I wouldn't say they are necessarily disinterested, they just don't care who wins. And it's nearly impossible not to be enthusiastic in Vegas.

You're kind of making my point for me. The point that Mayweather LIVES in Vegas and still is not the crowd favorite. People attending fights in Vegas are not from Vegas. This is one of the many reasons Vegas does not have a professional sports team....who would consistently follow them? And I don't think people are looking for excuses to take a trip to the North Pole. Nice try though.

    It shud be a spot
with Good support for each fighter.

In England u wont get that if the one of the fighters is from America, if the venue is a football stadium tht holds something like 50000 supporters.
and the american support would be drowned.

Vegas, even if there is a portion of the crowd that is disinterested, the foreign support wont be drowned as badly as they wud be in England or europe

    Why?

That's because American fighters don't generally generate the same enthusiasm and numbers of support as some fighters elsewhere. Hatton/Mayweather, Adamek/Cunnigham - both in the US.

I don't get the argument that fight in front of 50000 passionate fans = bad thing, fight in a library athosphere in the back hall of a casino in front of 1500 sleeping passers by = good thing.

50,000 passionate fans is by no means a bad thing, but 50,000 passionate fans all rooting for the SAME fighter is NOT neutral, good or bad. As far as the sleeping passer by's go, Vegas would be "the city that never sleeps" if New York didn't already have the title. Vegas is FAR from a library atmosphere. Vegas DOES hold the titles of "sin city" and "the entertainment capital of the world", and as we all know, "what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas" (that's from people becoming a little TOO hammered and getting a bit TOO freaky). I'm only saying that the atmosphere is neutral, not dead and boring. Feel free to retract that statement about the sleeping fans at any time.

Im not saying they shud do tht

its in regards to the question of the thread title
"where is the most neutral spot to fight?"

I aint saying fighting in front of 50000 passionate fans is a bad thing, and I aint saying 1500 sleeping passers is a good thing.

I was answering the question "where is the most neutral spot to fight?". and Vegas is more Neutral.

Imagine, BHop vs Calzaghe at the Millenium stadium, do u think it would go to a SD.
at Vegas, it went to a SD, and calzaghe was awarded the win?

I watched on tv two x Dawson v Tarver fights held in Vegas in front of just over 2500 comatose 'fans' aggregate, so don't feel the need to retract anything just on that basis :yep

Oh yeah...you mean when they fought to see who was the best fighter in the weakest weight class boxing has to offer? That fight would have put New York to sleep.

If thhe fight was held at the Superdome like Arum hinted at, it would be a clear advantage for Mayweather.
