I think a lot of people just respond to the "Tyson is the GOAT" type nonsense that goes on. He was a very good champ, the youngest Heavyweight champ ever, and he had great highlight reels. His record isnt all the impressive though, and Holyfield beat him when he was the same age as Haye when Wlad beat him. I think people just eact to the way he was overhyped. Thats all. I dont anyone says he wasnt a good champ.
Tyson won all his titles after Cus D`Amatos death. So I wouldnt say he was innefective Tyson might not have reigned super long, but he defended his titles 10 times succesfully in his career and won five world championships. Also total time of four years as a world champion is not that bad. Never beat true heavyweight? He beat 11 world champions in his career. He cleaned out entire division in 80ths. Tyson was world champion about 4 years and was considered one of the top fighters in HW about 12 years in his career, if we don’t count the prison time. Granted his undefeated run wasn’t that long, but even that was more like five years than two Of course he is ATG. His title wins and title defenses alone make him one. Then when you count style he blow away his competition you realize he is one of the best ever
Calzaghe beat 12 world champions. Calzaghe had 22 title defenses Calzaghe was never defeated Calzaghe had a style no one really figured out and generally dominated all of his fights. He must be the GOAT. Let alone Floyd Mayweather.
Uh, no. He's an innocent man that was convicted of ****, by an over-zealous prosecutor & judge who both ignored critical facts. Desiree later proved herself to be a complete liar & hypocrite. Pretty much everyone who has looked closely at the facts post-trial has come to the same obvious conclusion. Now just STFU.
Neah, it is exactly because this is an internet forum and there are always plenty of mongs that chat ****. There was another thread that said Muhammed Ali was overrated. Probably don't think there is any boxers that is not called overrated by someone on here.
Impressive number but considering that the real number is 8 world champions not twelve (7 if you dont count Wbogus champions of 90ths a real champions like you shouldnt) and that it is easier to beat world champions in lower weight classes. It isnt as impressive as Tysons number. Impressive although majority of them are WBogus defenses when title wasnt a real major championship. Also I counted 21. There were no titles on the line against Roy Jones Jr. That is an impressive feat. I wouldnt say that. He was taken to the limit when he faced A class opposition. He is great boxer who could have achieved more if he wouldnt have defended his Wbogus title in England against nobodies for so long Floyd Mayweather is one of the best ever. Great boxer All in all your answer doesnt really answer anything. You made lots of claims how Tyson didnt reign long and how he didnt face any top boxers in his career and backed it up partially false Calzaghe stats. Whats up with that?
I think people just don't get the term 'overrated' means. Tyson and Ali are rated exactly where they should be.. top of the pile. People that lived through the Tyson era would know how much Tyson did for boxing and the energy he brought with him. At the end of the day, watching boxing is about entertainment and when you got boring guys like K Bros in the heavyweight that puts people to sleep, might as well go and watch MMA where they hug and cuddle each other on the floor. Style does matter and Tyson bought the best style ever.
