It already started to look dodgy some time ago. If it doesn't happen this year, Fury might even surpass Haye in dodgyness.
November has been ruled out so they only have a small window in December now. With May/Pac 2 slated for December, it's looking even less likely for 2018. Don't hold your breath...
They are currently looking for a planet in da Yulaverse to host this on. A fight of this magnitude exceeds planet Earth.
If that were to happen I would assume the whole Fury/Wilder scenario was just a PR job was just a way for Fury and Warren to secure the Joshua fight on favourable terms. Clever move if true, that way Fury gets to cash out without having to fight anyone decent beforehand which was a stipulation from Hearn.
True, the announcement has been pushed back for weeks now. First it was 99% done, then 100% done, then Fury had sent a signed contract, then it was to be announcement next week, then during Canelo/GGG to take advantage of the media, then they'd agreed splits but not a date and venue and now it's meant to be this week. Suffice to say it would be a big shock to plenty if it does get confirmed. If it doesn't get announced after Joshua/Povetkin then it's safe to say it was all BS and the fight isn't going to happen because they've had more than one great opportunity to announce the fight and time is running out if it's to be this year. Plus WBC have confirmed in July the Breazeale mandatory is due by end of year so what's happening there? Is Wilder vacating his belt to fight Fury because it isn't a unification fight so doesn't supersede a mandatory. Whole thing looks dodgy, though we all now WBC is on Haymon's pay books so wouldn't be surprised to see the WBC bend or even break it's own rules regarding the Breazeale mandatory.
Povetkin rematch. I doubt Joshua vs Fury/Wilder would be announced anyway, but then it also wouldn’t surprise me.
Hearn wants a massive fight for April. This we know. That’s the reason he’s extending the allocated capacity to over 100,000. Joshua vs anyone other than Wilder or Fury wouldn’t sellout, so they’d be no reason for the extra capacity.
