I agree a flat fee offer is somewhat ridiculous. I also think the 100m is pretty much a fantasy. Team Wilder are looking to establish the offer as 12.5% when in reality it's prob far better than that. I genuinely don't think Wilder sells that many more ppvs in the UK and it's hard to know how much extra cash he can draw in stateside being he's not a ppv fighter. How much money will Showtime put up for this fight being that it'll happen in the UK?
It is probably higher than 12.5%, but we don't know. For all we know, it would be worse (probably very unlikely). They should just do a standard percentage like every other big fight. Just as Wilder reasonably asked for. AJ/Hearn making things difficult with nonstandard offers should be evidence enough that they're the problem here.
The amounts and percentages are absolutely irrelevant. What is relevant is whether a deal can be struck, and I suspect they aren't even close to one at this stage.
Wilder is probaby looking into the allies to find another wino to fight, but seriously, last I read he will be fighting Breazeale..................
I think Wilder would be well within his rights to demand a 35% split. According to his team that constitutes $35m which considering he's only bringing one belt to this undisputed party and is the undoubted B-side draw wise seems quite the windfall for a guy usually earning 1-3m a fight.
If Finkel's comment after he won the title is true Povetkin offered them $10 mill to fight a voluntary after he beat Stiverne. Though this was back when Rabinsky was willing to throw stupid money at a fight and lose money. He'd never offer that much again as proven by the mandatory purse bid. https://www.*******.com/wilder-not-rushed-klitschko-says-finkel--86714 The winning purse bid for the mandatory against Povetkin was $7.15 mill, so the normal 75% split for the champion would of seen Wilder get $5.36 mill. So both times less than what is currently being offered. So it's clearly a record payday and Wilder will likely never make anywhere near this much for one fight ever again, it's his one last chance to cash out. Having said that, flat fee is a cop out, Wilder deserves a split, although likely one much smaller than he wants.
35% would be about right in my mind. 30-40% would be good. Probably above 33% as I believe Wilder should bring slightly more than Parker.
Shirley said she wants 40% of $100 million..... Joshua told Shirley "Nah, Wilder needs the cash more than me, just give me $50 million (50%)".... Shirley's gone quiet.
Surprised Joshua fans are looking for excuses to not fight Wilder and blame Wilder. Sounds like a low bar standard was already set, 33% for a far smaller fan base with Parker…If offers are lower than that, they’re not seriously trying to make the fight, they’re looking for an excuse for their duck…
If you haven't worked out by now that both teams are telling lies you haven't been paying attention. There will be many more lies too before this fight is made.
I think Joshua beats wilder and am happy to see that as the next fight, but that doesn't stop me understanding the Hearn AJ position. Hearn has said that they don't want to continue overpaying. As they add more belts their position and therefore share should logically become stronger, so the argument that Parker got more becomes less relevant. Wilder has talked **** about AJ for the last two years. Called him a drug cheat. Criticised the quality of opponents. Talked down his achievements etc. Mentioned him in all his interviews to raise his own profile. Now they sit down to discuss a fight where AJ brings 4 belts and the opportunity for wilder to become a superstar with one lucky punch. A chance to fulfill his supposed lifelong dream of undisputed but without doing the hard work or paying the other belt holder as AJ has. A fight where AJ has built the massive crowd and PPV audience that will vast majority of revenue. Built it by pushing himself against a better quality of opponent than wilder has dared to face. Maybe AJ doesn't want to give him more money? Maybe he thinks he doesn't deserve it? Maybe he's right?
...and maybe he's not. They will either get the fight made or they won't, and it's time people stopped straining their brains over amounts and percentages when it will all make absolutely zero difference to the outcome.
Well I gave some reasons why he may think that, if you were to give some counter arguments maybe we'd have the beginnings of a discussion? I've seen you several times now making the point that it will either be made or it won't. Well, sure, that's true, but it doesn't really tell us anything about what you think? Which makes me wonder why you bother reading the threads concerning this? I can only speak for myself but it's not a strain on my brain to discuss these matters, quit the reverse. It's nice in fact to discuss revenue, percentages, projections etc with nothing riding on it but some words on a forum. Ultimately none of the discussion here will make a difference, but some of us enjoy debating it and occasionally even learning something new from someone with an alternative viewpoint. Try it, you may like it
Yes, that's what it ultimately boils down to. Just wish both sides would STFU and hash out a deal behind closed doors. This constant jockeying for sympathy between multi-millionaires gets on my nerves.
I wouldn't be that surprised if Hearn and Haymon hadn't already agreed things and were just building the fight. They're getting some free press here in the uk at least over these offers and counter offers.
