Curious to see where people are ranking him right now. I am pretty confident that Wlad will fight 2-3 times a year for 4-5 more years. If he continues with his current style I dont see anyone currently who is going to beat him. It will have to be someone down the pipe. As soon as Vitaly retires, likely in 2009, we can expect Wlad to become undisputed HW Champ.
his losses will always look very bad as it wasnt to the best opposition. i dont think he will make top 20 as he is too vulnerable.

Can't argue with top 30. If Vitali retires and Wlad unifies and goes undefeated until retiring in five years winning in this fashion I can say top 15.
I have been looking for a Ring list but I cannot find one right now. I think to compare we need to see more top 50 lists and then it may be easier to place Wlad.
That list is a JOKE. Tyson and Lewis are way overrated, Holyfield is too low. Ibeabuchi is top fifty?? Puh-leez. Of of two fights?? Ruiz?? The only top 50 that cheater Ruiz belongs on is the top 50 worst HWs, at #1.
You have loads of guys ahead of Vlad that he could trounce H2H and that were not nearly as dominant. I have Vlad in my top 15 and if he continues to win he will crack my top 10 based on his great H2H abilities. He does have some nasty stains on his ledger but few fighters have manhandled opponents like he does. I know that some will say that Vlad is not undisputed to this day but that is not his fault. If there were one title today I think that it is only common sense that he would be the man right now and his bro would still be retired.
Put your list up. As I said I dont have a top 50 or 100 list and cannot find a ring list, this is what I could find quickly, these are not my lists they are on the classic boxing forum.
I did a post sometime back about how to judge people on the all time list. I dont think we can compare h2h through the eras effectively. Again this is not my list I have never attemtped a top 50. My criteria was something like. 1) who they faced in their era 2) overall record 3) Titles and title defenses 4) impact on the sport (fame popularity etc.) Open to suggeestions here.
One more post before I let the poll run. Based on these 2 lists complied by ESB classic forum posters I think it is hard to argue against a current top 50 rating. I voted top 50 currently. I think Wlad can accomplish a lot more at heavy before he retires.
I think that he is well on his way to a very high ranking all time. However, it is almost pointless placing a guy within the ATG list smack dab in the middle of his prime. Let his career play out.. let the dust settle... and then go ahead and look back.
All I'm saying is that it is any list that has Ibeabuchi and particularly Ruiz, in the top fifty is illegitmate. I don't keep lists any longer than 20, but here goes 1. Ali 2. Louis 3. Dempsey 4. Foreman 5. Holmes 6. Marciano 7. Holyfield 8. Johnson 9. Liston 10. Frazier 11. Tyson 12. Jeffries 13. Lewis 14. Walcott 15. Charles 16. Bowe 17. Schmeling 18. Corbett 19. Langford 20. Baer 21. Patterson 22. Quarry 23. Johansson 24. Wills 25. Tunney 26. Norton 27. Jeannette 28. Sharkey 29. Jackson 30. Fitzsimmons 31. McVey 32. Choynski 33. Sullivan 34. Lyle 35. M. Spinks 36. Weaver 37. W. Klitschko 38. Braddock 39. Witherspoon 40. Carnera 41. Machen 42. Folley 43. Godfrey 44. Young 45. Williams 46. Terrell 47. Willard 48. Burns 49. Thomas 50. V. Klitschko And, as far as the primary subject of the thread, I can only justify CURRENTLY ranking Wlad ahead of the lowest quality unified champs, guys like Braddock, Carnera, Willard or Burns. Is Wlad a "better" fighter than other HW champs above him, particularly head to head? Of course. But each of these men has an achievement that Wlad does not have, and that is universal recognition as THE heavyweight champ, which counts for a lot as I see it.
