Damn, ask me around 2017 or so.

Sure as hell never going to get a true impression now.
Do that and you get stuff like The Ring naming Holyfield as the #3 best heavyweight in the history of the division, or Ali as not even being in their top ten.

Top 30 for me. He may make the top 15-20 depending how his career unfolds from now on. Regardless of his size and talent, I doubt his resolve and fighter spirit. I feel that under a ceterus paribus condition (all things being equal) most people ranked in the top 15 would be able to beat him. Legacy-wise he is way off imo. I would put Vitaly in the top 20 immediately.

The argument about the brothers has been that, in comparison to Vitali, Wlad's beaten better overall but lost to worse overall.

Which makes it even most important to see how the following years play out for Wlad. On historical precedent, there's more chance of sudden disaster than with Vitali.

I'd say top 20, maybe on a head to head basis, but on achievments he is probably top 30.

How can you justify having Johansson so high? Or Schmeling? Or Baer? You can't judge fighters on a sole great moment, surely? Are you going by career achievements, or by achievements at heavyweight only?

In some ways though, it's an impressive list.

wlad should easily be ranked over walcott and schmeling:
walcott - won the title after three unsuccessful attempts, one defense.
schmeling - one good fight vs. louis, one title defense.

wlad - 11 defenses, maybe if he had lost to ezzard charles twice he would crack the classicist top 15.
