Where is Wladimir in the ATG's now?

No, nor top 15

 

It is really difficult to answer this completely. It is best for a fighter to have retired, (5 years seems solid) where we can assess his whole body of work. Lennox is a guy recently who has climbed the ranking since he retired...Wlad may be as well.

Having said that I currently rate him 15, but find 12-15 a solid placement at this point. In the future he may well be in the 8-12 range....I doubt he climbs any higher on serious lists, but time will tell!

PS I still find him boring, and hope that someone will bring some excitement to this dreadful division....but in spite of the boredom that he generates he is very good in my estimation!

Number 14-18......something like that in my opinion....

 

Everyone has these things ranked on their own individual criteria. For me, I try to put fair weight on longevity, dominance, and taking out contenders(or other beltholders in the recent era)- which is why my top 2 is Louis and Ali, respectively. Beating alot of top 5, top 10 guys can overcome not having a spectacular wins resume on the top end if it's done for long enough. Wlad's probably at that borderline top 10 point for me right now if he retires because of that, but I think he'll continue to make his case stronger over the coming few years. It's tough figuring an exact numerical rating because there's not alot separating most of these guys- but Wlad's done enough to get in the club, IMO.

 

It's hard to judge someone who's still active, but as things stand, I'd say he's solid for the top15.

I think he's past his best, but he still has enough to beat Povetkin, Boyztsov and whoever else there is left to beat.

 

Wlads in the club most definitely, wholly due to his dominance but nothing else
