Instantly became a fan when he beat Anthony Fowler from pillar to post in Rio 2016. He turned pro in 2016 and has only had 2 fights, does he have promotional issues? It's a shame, he looked very impressive against Fowler and in the World Championships in 2013 which he won. Hopefully he gets active soon as he's a talent. Any info would be appreciated.
Those two first pro fights were in Kazakhstan, but he signed with Top Rank in June this year, so we will see him again, for sure.
He signed contract with Egis Klimas as well and currently working on gaining form so we should see him soon. "Buddy" McGirt is his new coach as far as I understand.
US debut set for the Ancajas card at the end of this month! http://www.asianboxing.info/asian-news/janibek-alimkhanuly-to-make-us-debut-on-september-28th
Any video of it? I tried googling it and couldn’t find the fight, I really don’t rate fowler think he’s a loud mouth social media hype job.
Alimkhanuly is imo one of the top prospects in boxing, he can punch, he can move, he can box. Like someone else said, he whooped Anthony Fowler badly in Rio but then was robbed before getting a medal, he also whooped Jason Quigley in the finals of the world championship.
If he now stay active he can be star... If he fight once every 9 month his career will be a waste. Bob Arum might not be best fit
I've just noticed that he's fighting at light heavyweight now. Wow, is it absolutely necessary because he can't make super middleweight?
