where now for murray?

Well what can I say? I have been aching to see Murray take an ass whupping from the day he threatened to 'break Burns in half' before pulling out of the fight.
The writing has been on the wall with Murray for ages, he got outboxed by al hemidi, & a mexican roadsweeper who was 3 divisions below him, only to get a couple of gift decisions. even lee McAllister boxed the ears off him for 3 rounds before he fell apart due to a poor boxing upbringing, fighting too many 4 & six rounders & not getting rounds under his belt.

It was a great fight though while it lasted, maybe Murrays annoyingly arrogant trainer will take a hard look at himself in the mirror, I was saying to my mate before Murray was sent to his doom "Murrays obviously done, his nose is broken, he cant breathe through it, his body language is saying hes had enough, but he was sent out to take more punishment before the inevitable stoppage.
Not naming rounds or names cos I was at my mates downing a vodka or two watching before I came home, so my memory is a bit ****ed just now:yep

Who the **** was doing the SKY punch stats? That was ****ed up punchcounting. Me & my mate were laughing at the commentary too, cos after 3 rounds we knew Mitchell had the perfect strategy & Murray was punching himself out. I dont get a SKY paycheque though, or maybe I would have thought differently

I think that's the end of Murray and if he does come back he won't reach any higher than euro level, just like the majority of boxers in from Britain I.e. Thaxton, Limmond etc.

Murrays style is always going to see him take punishment, and well a classy fighter, who can get out the way and find the target beats him easily.

I don't think it's the end for Murray, but Mitchell has now laid the blueprint and it's up to Murray to adjust to counter this. If he doesn't then he's found his level.

 

I agree mate, Murrays learnt his chin cant be his defence against classy boxers with a good stiff jab, he needs to adjust his style, its up to him now. Mitchell learnt from his defeat that dedication and commitment are what is needed, i also think Frankie Gavin should learnt from Mitchell`s mistake before its too late, hes gotta stop cutting corners in training, he has the skill set but i think hes best a light welter.

 

I always thought that Mitchell had the skills to beat John Murray, when my brother fought him for four rounds he showed everybody the way to beat him, but he got over confident and stopped using the one tool that Murray has no answer for a good jab. Murray has the personality to come back from this but he really needs to work his defence, a simple head movement to help roll away from some of the shots coming towards him and he would only be hit half the time. but well done Kevin Mitchell and i hope you keep your head on the right way and don't blow it again.

For a start don't just walk on to the punches like a robot.

 

Thats his style. And at his age he really isnt gonna develop much of a defense.

He's gone as far as his limited skill/talent will take him.

 

Trust me Dunky there is no poor upbringing in my brothers boxing, we made the mistake with Lee because he was a massive Naz fan and that he met Brendan Ingle when we were down at the Eubank v Thompson fight, Brendan gave him his usual little speach about how he could do the same with Lee as he done with Naz, Rhodes,Nelson in making him a champion. But in hindsight this was a bad move but who were we to argue with a person who had had that much success, Lee signed for them and after 1 or 2 fights they had the bust up with Fr@nk and Lee had to fight on shows around Bradford and the such, they always promised that the big fights would come but they never did. Lee was very loyal to them and stayed maybe 2-3 years longer than he should before moving on to work with Dave Coldwell, there was definate improvement when working with Dave but Lee has 2 young kids and having to spend the time he would need to in Sheffield/ Rotherham just wouldn't have worked. So now he is training with Peter Harrison and had Peter in the corner of his last fight.

I've heard Lee gets a bit of stick on here and i feel it is unjust because nobody knows him really and know about what he has had to deal with in regards to injuries and personal issues.

 

Lenny Daws or Willie Limond at 140. He has no prospects at World level, nice lad though will be good to see him try again.
