It makes no sense to me and is probably systematic of having Mogens Palle and that chucklehead Michael Marley in his management team that after the boost he got in image following on from the Calzaghe fight, he's gone completely invisible since. Why has he not sought to make fights that matter? Surely his showing against Calzaghe gives him confidence to go in and beat up guys like Bute, Taylor, Froch. It's annoying - unlike other Euro fighters, he has enough of an image that he should make money for those fighters and he is a legacy builder due to how highly ranked he is by some commentators. Time to ditch Palle and Marley, time to ditch Denmark and live either in the UK or America and go after fights that matter.
yeah pretty much. i said it once i'll say it again, it's ultimately up to the FIGHTER to decide who he fights. Kessler needs to get this **** done himself
It is - take a leaf out of the books of Floyd, Oscar, Bernard and even Calzaghe - manage your own career. I said at the time of the fight, Kessler should go into Enzo Calzaghe's stable to learn some style to add to his textbook basics - potentially he'd be better off under Calzaghe Promotions too than he is stuck away under Palle.
KEssler is way overrated.. I always thought that way.. The main reason why he's receiving more hype than he deserves is because he has that GoldenBOy thing going on.. He's a white fighter with good looks and a guy like that is easy to promote.. Allan Green would **** him up.
well i don't know if green would **** him up but he certainly hasn't warranted a lot of the attention and accolades he's got, especially considering his opposition. It feels wrong ranking him at the top of a stacked division based soley on talent and a losing effort when he never fights and when he does, it's against guys who spend most of their time in soup kitchens
I may be wrong but I thought that he wasn't fighting as a result of boxing politics. I swear I heard somewhere that he is having trouble with his promotional team.
Kessler has beaten some handy fighters, but he certainly wasn't worth the hype people plowed onto him - he's the next best at 168 now that Calzaghe left but he's missed opportunities. He could have had the Miranda fight, he could have had the Taylor fight - both of which he probably would have won. As for the hype factor - I'd say the fact that he went close with Calzaghe, combined with his wins over some of the Top 10 at 168 is what got him there.
Nobody knows, we don't hear ****, it's very frustrating for his fans! We know about his problems with Palle, but still it's a bit arrogant not saying anything.
Jeez. He was ranked right behind Calzaghe for three years before the Calzaghe fight. Now he's ranked #1 after Joes retirement. The Calzaghe fight had nothing to do with it.
He couldn't have had the Taylor fight - Dibella made that PERFECTLY clear. Kessler was supposed to fight Wright, but he pulled out to fight Paul Williams instead. Kessler has been calling out and negotiating with Taylor and Hopkins for years. Look how hard it was for Froch to get that fight - even after Taylor was the MANDATORY CHALLENGER! You need to understand the politics of boxing. If it was that easy to get a big fight Dariusz Miwhatshisname and Calzaghe wouldn't have been hanging around in Europe for all those years.
EXACLTY. And before that, they were having trouble getting guys in the ring with him because they said "wh wont fight a guy who lost in his last fight on US TV" but the only way to GET back on US TV was to fight one of those guys. Catch-22.
