Just spar more man. You don't need to get hit in a certain area to get "toughen" up. If your feeling frisky get in the ring 3-4 times a week. That should toughen you up just fine.

toughness is mental. you either have it or develop it, but it usually is the same your whole life. However, getting hit more often will increase your immunity to hits/pain.

i agree with that it's more of the mental toughness and instead of preparing to get hit ...just get his and not worry about it..big difference

nowhere. Doing a drill where you know the hits are coming and where they're being thrown isn't accurate simulation for what it's like in the ring. If you want to strengthen your abs with medicine ball drops or have someone hit your stomach, fine. But, other than that, just spar. and prepare yourself mentally.

You can ask your partner to hit you light in the midsection generally.
We use that kind of training but he should be careful hiting you at the ribs, liver and splin. Solar plexus is out of the question.
It is like "toughening up your nuts".

My trainer drops the medicine ball 50 times on my midsection and 50 on each side. Another thing I like to do is have someone throw light punches at my head... very lightly to the face and a little harder to my forehead and I just work on keeping my head still and my eyes open and focusing on their shoulders. This isn't really toughening me up but I think it helps in terms of avoiding some instinctual flinching and getting distracted when someone flurries at me.

There's not specific place you need to get hit to toughen up for christ's sake! The only way to "build toughness" as you say is to spar a lot and work on the mental side of getting hit, meaning, you need to work on your reaction to getting hit. Work on keeping your composure, staying focused, etc when you are getting hit.
