The guy got stopped in a championship fight in which he was allegedly perfoming well, why is everyone acting like the guy's career is over?

 

I think it was pretty clear that Holt has a weak beard prior to this fight, but this doesn't prevent him from having a decent career with better match making. I never thought he was top tier anyway. BTW Torres isn't top tier either.

 

Another skilled and overconfident prospect negects to keep up his left...I haven't seen that before atsch

 

IMO he would lose to Paulie malignaggi, but Holt is still a good fighter.
He can still go places.

 

I agree man, damm he got caught and until i see the fight i cant say if it was stopped early, if the floor was slippery, or he was out.
But damm give him a break, he is a good fighter who got caught.

Here he was whipping Davis then just got reckless and got caught.
I was going for Davis here and was happy, but Holt does have some good skills.

All of a sudden everyone is bagging him out due to he got stopped.

I mean if davis caught other people coming in reckless like that and showing no respect like that they would get ko'd too.

 

It doesnt matter if he was out for a year or a day, he caught Holt with a great punch and followed it up.
Exactly he was out for 2 years, it looks like he will get underestimated then, especially since he was getting battered around before the ko.
He hit holt after holt was getting reckless and showed no respect.

 

Did you see the stoppage it was a home town, save the local fighter stoppage.

 

everyone on here is trashing holt just because of a loss to davis back on espn. This guy does not have the best set of whiskers i agree with that, i remember him getting rocked by david diaz on showbox awhile back. But holt came back and won it (even knocked him down on the 1st). The fight against torres would have shown holt rebounding off the knockdown to win, however the premature stoppage and bad ring circumstances (like getting you vision blurry and eye swole due to a flying beer can from the crowd) prevented that. What i now see from the ESB crowd is this complete dismissal of a contender that has some hellish power and some incredible combination punching. He knocked torres down with a left-right combo from hell. I dont remember seeing cotto doing that to torres. He will become champ due to his combination punching, speed and power. He seems to me like a fighter who will take that chance to throw off a combo when the other guy is throwing his. He has some balls and some tools, you are damn right he will be champ one day despite this torres robbery.


oh and btw: I know some of you will say, 'well cotto beat torres' but if cotto fought torres in colombia torres would have won with the ref stopping the fight after cotto got knocked down those first couple of times. so chew on that haters.

Robot16: dont try to explain that holt has skills to these losers. They obviously never watch boxing and dont understand that fighters underestimate someone and get caught. (I actually remember watching that fight and how teddy atlas was talking about how davis had a lanky frame that he could deliver some hellish power with and then BOOM! holt goes down. Teddy can definetly call fights). they just see that one setback and completly dismiss him. dont worry, i am logging these posts for later so people can eat some crow when Holt wins a title.

 

Yup. It's pretty hard to be a top level fighter with a chin as shaky as Holt's. Expect him to get KTFO next time he steps it up.:yep
