There isn;t much in the way of nightlife around Upton Park, but some of the close by areas have been mentioned, Stratford, Shorditch etc... As for hotels, if you're after budget, then there is one of the F1 places that is £45 per night http://www.hotelformule1.com/gb/hotel-2655-formule1-london-barking/index.shtml , also an Ibis and one other (Etap I think), these are all about a mile walk from Upton Park. If you want to venture to the closest Essex nighsports, try Romford, there is a Travelodge and Premier Inn there, and you can get to Upton Park on a single bus ride which would take about 45 minutes. PM me if you have any questions and I'll try and help out. Cheers
Cheers guys, opted for the Ramada Docklands, not much around there I know so figure it's Barking Road after the fight for me
are they likely to run any extra tubes westbound on the District line after midnight ? sure the last one from Upton Park is 00.02, if they do theres always places round the City/ Tower Bridge area, that Minories place under the railway arch was a decent night. where in the East End are ya from mate ? used to live that way myself for a while
Anyone wanting to book a room in London for this fight give me a PM and we'll sort something out.. I don't want to be paying a **** load for a room so will happily share with some potential weirdo from the internet.
Was raised in Plaistow, moved to Romford 10 years ago. I don't think they'll lay on anymore trains to be honest, London Transport has a history of not taking sporting events into consideration, like closing sections of a line that serves a football ground on match day.... Minories, used to be my Friday night haunt, haven;t been in there for over 10 years now though, no idea what it is like.
Not been minories for 5 years. Lived in Plaistow myself in between the Brit and Railway Tavern, both were my regular pubs
Ramada hotels are alright A little bit nicer than travelodges I would say. Stayed in them for a week with work.
www.booking.com You can mostly book without having to pay up front and can cancel FOC in the event the show goes tits up.
I've done a bit of googling now & think I might spend the day & night time after the fight around Canning Town. Looks to be a few pubs around & it's midway between Docklands (where my hotel is) & Upton Park. Any feedback guys on whether this is a good idea or not?
