He just can't deal with people who actually box, i rememeber him in the corner after the 8th round and even the look in his face was different to his previous fights
No improvements it's the same old Pac basically. He's just been fighting guys who he could exploit until last night.:deal
This is what I've been thinking all along but before this fight you would be called a "*****" for that
Pacquiao looks improved against certain styles. Against others he doesn't. Why? Because he hasn't improved against those styles. It's that simple.
No Joan Guzman No Zahir Raheem No Floyd Mayweather Jr. Pacquiao fights guys he can look good against. Guys who he can hit and are willing to trade. Anyone that won't do that is going to make him look bad.
I felt like I was watching Mike Tyson later in his career. Where in the hell did Pac's head movement go?
If we go by Compubox numbers, then the improvement was punch connect. That said, it's hard for even great fighters to overcome bad style matchups.
that's a horrible style match up for Pac...against a guy who knows him inside/out. I'd l**** to see him against another counter puncher not named JMM to accurately judge.
Since JMM fights Pac going backwards, there has always been less opportunity for Pac to meaningfully display the full potential of his head and foot movement because he has to constantly move forward. What's the use of shifting side to side when your opponent spends much of the fight moving out of range? You have to close the distance first, and it's during those times that JMM pounced on Pac.
People viewed Cotto as a fairly decent counterpuncher before the Pac fight. Even during that fight, he was counterpunching Pac all over.
The promoter. Its not like Pacquiao has any problems, its his team. He did not have Arum back then. (I dont know if Arum was there in 08). Plus Morales looked like **** in his next fight and barely made the weight.
Not true. Pac was following him too much and making it that way. He should have been using his angles. Using his head movement, and bouncing to JMM's side, cutting down the angle and cutting off the ring. Instead... he followed JMM around. He also constantly allowed JMM to circle away from Pac's strong left.... at the same time allowing himself to circle directly into JMM's strong right. A great way for Pac to stop that would have been for him to take a hard hop/step to the outside of JMM's lead foot and zip some hard straight lefts up the pipe.
