I said it during the rbr thread at around rd 4. "same old Pac". He tried some new things but it did not work. Pac goes to moves roach teaches him leading up to the fight.. If they work he keeps doing it like Cotto and Hatton. If the other guy adapts like Marquez he goes back to crude Pac. Just jump in and try to take the guys head off. He was better defensively than the first fight and he blocked a lot of punches but that was bc Marquez is/was still not that fast. His footwork is one dimensional and only works if the other guy stays put. Marquez showed pac's main weakness as did Mosley bc he just can't close the distance without leaving himself open. If you make him miss that first punch he is off balance to follow up. That's any fighter really but pac more so bc the way he throws his momentum into it. I think his defense is good enough not to get stopped by Floyd but if he tries to get reckless like in the 9th- 10th rd he is going to get himself knocked out. *******s and other idiot haters don't realize that styles do make fights and Floyds styles(he has more than one and all beat Pac). Floyd will have an easier fight than Marquez. He is too quick for Pac and he would just show what true speed is. Look at Floyd's reaction time and reflexes in any fight and how quickly he can go from offense to defense. Easy
The question is why did people think Pacquaio completely changed his style over night from 2008 when Marquez beat him last to 2009 when he beat Delahoya? Pac's weaknesses have always remained the same, his best win is still the Barrera win from 2003, in which he won every round, he looked a million dollars then too Put him in with a counter puncher, with a great right hand and good movement and he had nightmares - see Marquez/Morales Put him in with someone without a right hand, without a good defence, without speed, without great movement and he dominates time and again. Enter Hatton, Drained Delahoya, Cotto, Margarito (a better right hand but too slow) Put him back in with counter puncher with a great right hand - same result again He never had technically good head movement and never had technically good footwork. Marquez outmanouvered him, he tried to move to the right as Roach told him too and Marquez just out moved him. His movement looks great against orthodox fighters who come forward in straight lines. Pacquiao uses angles with his punches but not so much with his footwork. Pacquaio has never learnt how to cut off a ring It boils down to the fact Hall of Fame trainer Freddie Roach never taught him most of these things
Out of all the guys he's fought, Marquez don't cater to his style. This is why he struggled with him all three times. A younger De La Hoyle would of gave Pac a much better fight then what we saw. I truly believe De La Hoyle would of gave him a better fight if they had fought at 150lbs. Pac looks great against stationary targets who's just throwing punches. He would of looked like a god against Mayorga.....lol In my opinion Pac is one major hype job, until proven other wise.
Not really Raheem won every round against Morales before Pac avenged his loss and Morales was drained at 130
Here's where we part company, PP. I'm ol' school. The bell rings -- no excuses, weight, divorce, blindness, whatever -- the winner's the winner.
Although Pac couldn't knock down JMM this time, he did outland him for the first time in the 3 fights. The judges agree, as this was Pac's most clear victory in terms of judges scoring.
most of JMM connecting was during exchanges, but he couldnt do anything when he initiate the action, he got countered
There is no possible way for him to not ask for it, or it would look bad on him. Besides OSDT don't mean ****. Pac seems to have an excuse every time he has a tough fight or loses. Which makes me think that the blood testing weakening him was just another excuse to why he lost to Morales.
\ That may be good and well JG, and you're certainly entitled to your opinion. But, even if you are truly a 'results only' guy, you can surely consider the reason(s) for the different results from Morales/Pac1, and 2/3. I tend to think the difference between the first fight and the 2nd two had more to do with Pac's physical advantages/Morales' decline rather than some brilliant technical improvement on Pacquiao's part. Morales had some success with his gameplan in the 2nd fight; Manny just wore his ass out. Any suggestion that Morales in the 3rd fight was anywhere near his form in the first is dishonest. Acknowledging that Pac had time to grow into the weight class, and that Morales had a tough time making the weight is hardly making excuses. I give both fighters utmost respect, and am grateful to have seen their first encounter live at MGM. That 12th round is some of the most exciting 3 min of sports spectating I've ever witnessed. :bbb We are lucky to have witnessed Pacquiao go on such a terrfic run from that point on, and that El Terible had another night to shine just this year :good
