Ok first of all I'm a huge Cotto fan and I was pretty upset about the loss, although the fight was great. I keep wondering what happened to Cotto's bread and butter? His body attack, I dont think I saw him throw 1 or 2 punches to the body.

Someone posted that it was hard for him to do when he was always going backwards but there were plenty of times he was on the ropes stationary doing nice combos to Margarito's head. Everyone's seen highlights of Cotto throwing combos to the head and body. I just wonder why we saw nothing like that. He mustve know he wasnt going to knock Margarito out but yet that's was it seemed like he was going for.

Going to the body equals eating uppercuts in the process. It seems that Cotto was trying to score points and win on the score cards but Margarito was too determined.

Cotto was out of his realm he was not prepared for Margo's constant pressure iron chin and will. Cotto also has a great jab witch he did not utilize, im sure Cotto learned a great deal from this fight and will return to the ring a better technical boxer-puncher.

Still I wouldve had thought he woulve attempted to goto the body. I have to watch the replay. It still all a blur! Maybe he did attempt. Hope your right though and he learns alot from this fight and comes back stronger!

because margo was open to the head all night...

if you were fighting a guy who wasn't defending is face wouldn't you hit him there?

Exactly, Cotto saw a free head there to hit and just went for it. Which ultimately screwed him over. Maybe Cotto bought into his own hype about his power?

I also think after landing so many clean shots that Cotto was broken mentally.

    agreed.

and physically...he threw everything he had at margo, but he kept coming. when you add that along with margo's size advantage, it exhausted him.

Oh yea. I feel Cotto fought the wrong fight. I mean sure early on it worked but he doesn't have the stamina to keep up with it. He needed to stay in the center of the ring and jab. Thats where Margo is not as good a fighter.

I was gone all weekend, but these are my first comments on the Cotto/Margo fight.. Cotto was fighting a good fight in the first half of the fight.. He was boxing and outclassing Margo and was landing lots of clean shots.. It seems to me that Cotto lost because of a few reasons..

    01. He started off too fast against the very durable and iron-chinned Margarito thus becoming tired and exhausted
    02. He didn't fight the right fight.. Didn't use his jab all that much, no body attack what so ever, and not staying around the middle of the ring
    03. In the later rounds, especially the last two or three, he was just laying on the ropes letting Margo tee off on him.. We know Margo has great accumalative power and even more if you just let him hit you.. Cotto would just lay on the ropes and I don't know if it was because he was very tired or just mentally broken..

Cotto was still landing some nice clean, flush shots in the later rounds, but I believed if he would have stayed off the ropes and used his footwork to stay away from Margo and kept landing those clean shots, he could have won on points.. But I'll tell you what, Margo is one tough cookie.. Now I can see why Mayweather didn't want him..

Hopefully we can see Margarito vs Paul Williams II while Cotto can take on the winner of Judah/Clottey.. I will like to see a rematch between Cotto & Margo in the future..
