Where was the trainer of Banks, Emanuel Steward during the fight?

He said in an interview that he would be in Banks corner for the fight.

Showtime said that he could not be there due to travel difficulties.

How does a multi-millionaire, one of the best boxing trainers in the world have trouble getting into New Jersey, or the NY area?

I don't know the story, but it sure as hell sounds fishy.

Seemed like a big stab in the back for Banks, and I wonder how it affected him mentally.

When I saw that, I immediatly thought that even his own trainer didnt bother showing up. That is the image this act portrayed.

Actually, it looked like with a better corner and strategy he might have outpointed Adamek. He thought he had Adamek in trouble and then went in with recklessness and got caught cold, when he should have been more reserved. Adamek relies on power and aggression and can be outboxed with relative ease. With Emmanuel in Bank's corner he would have most likely fought a better fight, maybe even won a split/unanimous decision.

If Manny was there I think Banks had a good shot of out pointing or even stopping Adamek late. Is it is he wasnt, and a good win for Adamek it was.

The trainer is only as good as his fighter. I doubt Emanuel wouldnt have been able to prevent Banks defeat, but it was his trainer, and he should have been there. I thought it was kind of disrespectful to Banks.

Banks was a much better fighter with Steward in his corner. But since the last year he trained with Sugar Hill and he is the head coach. I believe that it is Banks wish to work with Hill.

Steward was there but not in the corner.

Do you mean Steward was in attendance?? Because it didn't sound that way in Bank's pre-fight interview. He even made a joke/comment about Manny calling on a cell phone.

I hate to have to believe Manny was with HBO and having meetings about tonights Baby Bull/JMM broadcast. Big fan of Manny, but to not be with your fighter in a World Title Match...:bart.

At Hamburg Sugar Hill was in Banks corner. He is the head coach. I believe it is Banks wish to work with him.

OK, that's fine if that's his wish. I was just wondering, you ended your post by saying Steward was there, just not in the corner.

You mean Steward was there in spirit? Something like that?

I've seen a couple of times Manny's fighters would have other trainers with them....Joey Gamache comes to mind as one trainer. I know it has to be hard, with as many fighters as he has to be commited fully to all of them at once, but damn man, how many times are your fighters fighting for the World and Ring titles? You don't miss those....

EDIT: That other quote hadn't been put on there yet.... I see your point, and it's fine if that's how they want to roll. Just maybe Steward could have said as much leading up to the fight, and not have the audience learn on the broadcast that Steward was having "travel problems".
