Probably in the US, like most American fighters for (almost) their entire careers.

It was the hype surrounding Eubank/Benn 2 that got me into boxing so Holyfield was just about to rematch and regain the heavyweight title vs Bowe.

Fighting Qawi and capturing his first world title in a fight that i considered afterwards one of the best ever .
If i had 1 boxing wish it would have been Holy against Usyk at cruiser .
Qawi was weirdly small for the weight, because of him i realized height was not so important for a weightclass .

I know the exact date I became a hardcore boxing fan. It was seeing Jeff Fenech kayo undefeated reigning world champ Samart Payakarun in June 1987. I saw prime Mike Tyson kayo Pinklon Thomas around the same time & was hooked. For the rest of my life it would seem. Went out & bought copies of The Ring & KO magazines shortly thereafter. Read about Evander unifying a couple of Cruiser belts by kayoing Ricky Parkey in 3 for the IBF title (he already had the WBA). That was a month earlier than the Jeff Fenech fight but by the time the US magazines hit the news stands in Australia it was several months later. The Ring went on & made Evander their Fighter of the Year in 1987 so that achievement coincides with my conversation from casual to hardcore fan.
