Where was GGG’s vaunted power against Jacobs or Canelo? (GGG fan)

    Size and tactics.

So, Jacobs didn't fight in a way that is easy to knock someone out and he also was huge. Golovkin didn't fully press him because of the size and power of Jacobs because he didn't want to risk getting caught himself. He still beat Jacobs up.

Canelo has good defense and both men were playing around each other's traps. Tactical fights like that generally don't result in extended beat downs which was the only way Golovkin was going to stop Canelo especially with Canelo's size.

It's all about how you fight. The power itself is still there though.

I always thought rather than that sharp, Randall Bailey one-punch KO power, GGG's knockout streak was built on heavy, concussive blows, sometimes in succession, via superb timing and shot placement. That deteriorated somewhat around Brook time, but when he got them flying, he literally broke Kell's face. You must respect that level of damage!

However, unlike that Randall Bailey power that can come out of nowhere at any time, GGG's excellent but rehearsed shots can be prepared for with necessary adjustments such as foot or head movement, perhaps breaking his timing or distance.

He IS a huge puncher, and may mop the floor with a careless, clenless Canelo, so you better believe what GGG opponents and sparring partners say: WHEN those shots connect accurately, you're in a world of trouble. Yet at this stage of GGG's career, he may not get to land a single of those concussive, clean blows on Canelo, so as always, your power is only as good as your opponent allows it to be.

His power was obviously there against Vanes. All men are not equal. Some men are better fighters than others.

    KO %'s don't lie though.

Allow me to rephrase this. He is not only an excellent boxer, but he can brawl too, if need be.

I have always seen GGG as a boxer first and puncher second. It's the Sanchez influence that has led him to becoming more KO-happy, probably as a way of creating hype. Gena is a calculating, organized fighter who goes to work systematically.

I mean, he floored Jacobs, so it was there a little.

Canelo has an excellent chin and limited the amount of times he got caught flush. He did really, really well in that regard. Jacobs kept moving, made sure GGG didn't get many chances to plant his feet. He took his licks pretty well when he did though for the most part.

Not everyone gets everyone out of there at the end of the day. He's never been a 1 hit KO guy, just everything he throws is hard as Hell - as Murray stated

Unless Golovkin empties Canelo's tank and puts a sustained beating on him I agree with you. Ginger has a solid, solid chin.

Ah, that's a great KO. Would like him to have more of them though

    Yes they absolutely do. LOL.

Pacquiao is obviously still a puncher despite an almost 10 year stretch of no KOs.

Danny Garcia is a BIG puncher despite a very
    mediocre KO percentage.

Lomachenko is a very mediocre puncher despite a high stoppage rate.

BJS is a solid puncher despite a bad KO%

George foreman was a HUGE puncher even when he stopped scoring KOs at the end of his career.

KO percentage tells you more about style than punching power

Level of opposition! Jacobs and Canelo are a level or 2 above what G was fighting. They are smart and can make adjustments. They have a good team around them that can develop strategies top minimize G's offense.

The Latin feather duster Sergio Mora hurt Jacobs way worse than GGG.

35-36 year old “in his prime”?
    Yeah, ok.
Just out of curiosity, how old are you?

    That’s just some nonsense.
Those two did weight well above what they should’ve, that’s a fact regardless of what Golovkin’s previous opponents did or didn’t do.

Watch the Jacobs' fight without the comically biased commentary i.e. mute it.

GGG was fighting a LHW and still snapping his head back with his jab like a Pez dispenser as well as downing him. Not everyone with power can be like Julian Jackson.
