Last night I thought Haye looked ok, but I didn't see any of this 'matrix' speed that all of his fans have been going on about. Was it a case of nerves maybe or is he just not as fast as people say, especially as he is a bit heavier?

Did he look any quicker than Wlad did against Barrrett 8 years ago? I didn't think so.

I thought he looked very quick, but he didn't throw enough combos.

I'm not a fan, but I certainly think he showed impressive speed. Of course Monte Barret made him look faster since he isn't exactly a greased lightning :D

    His handspeed is very quick.

Footspeed...not so much. It never has been, even at cruiserweight. It's a bit of a myth.

well he's clearly no Nonito Donaire but

compare him to what you saw in Vitali Vs. Peter

he's miles faster then both, and Wlad is also fast for a HW sooooo.......yeah

All the commentators here were going on about Barret's speed, and while he looked quicker than most heavies I thought he would be faster

Barret is a dangerous fighter, That's why he did not throw combos, Haye has 1 punch ko power so he did what he had to do.
    Very impressive victory.
I actually believe this guy will be better than lennox lewis, But we will see.:D

Monte is quick compared to most heavyweights and Haye made him look slow because of his reactions and his own speed.

Haye has never been a guy who throws lots of combo`s. The most you`ll see from him is a 3 punch combo at best.

He used to be more of an aggressor when he was younger, but he's settled into this counterpuncher style now. He fought Maccarinelli in exactly the same way as Barrett.

For his part, funnily enough, Barrett seemed to be fighting exactly the same way he fought Tye Fields...looking to land the counter right himself. I wonder if he was thinking Haye would come bombing out throwing shots like a maniac?

he's never been that quick of foot. but his handspeed and reflexes for a man of his size are highly impressive.

we saw the Hayetrix speed when he used it to knock Barret all over the place. He does need to work a bit on foot speed, so he can dart out quicker after delivering those hurting bombs.
