Pac's looking down at Marquez where his glove touching the canvas is in clear view....... Whether Pac did it intentionally or not is'nt relevant in a referee deciding to take a point away. Marquez was down and Cortez knew it, but did'nt take the point away. Not that it matters...... but as for Marquez, he had been in 3 previous title fights, enough to know that in title fights, the 3 knockdown rule is not in effect.
Yea I noticed this before. So really, the judge who had it 10-7 the first round had it right. I had Pacquiao winning both fights by a round or 2 so it doesn't matter to me but yea a point obviously should have been taken away.
I dont believe he knew. Look at him when Cortez comes over and pushes Manny away. JMM has his face covered with his arms/hands. Immediately once Cortez starts counting. Marquez opens his arms up to look at Cortez and immediately gets up. Marquez thought the fight was over. Simple as that. As for the Pac seeing it. Here's a pic. Pac just put him down but Marquez is holding himself up. Pacs focused on the fight not whether or not he's clearly down. All he sees is Marquez is holding the ropes and still up. Cortez knew he was down but also knew that Marquez was holding himself up with the ropes which in itself invites fighters to continue as they dont think you are all the way down. Let's look at this photo. This content is protected It clearly shows that Pac likely couldn't tell his arm was holding him up. Pac is focused on putting him down and he saw he was still up. Marquez body the way its slightly angled is almost hiding from Pac. This content is protected Immediately after the KD before Cortez grabs the count from the KD timer. Marquez clearly covering his face. This content is protected Marquez CLEARLY covering his face. Still not hearing Cortez count. This content is protected Upon hearing Cortez counting he looks up in surprise and immediately gets up. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wg5CAFUX79w[/ame] Watch the video. Clear as day Marquez looked at Cortez in surprise that he was counting.
On top of Marquez was in title fights before... that means nothing. We have refs who dont even remember the rules properly and you expect a fighter to remember all of them in the heat of a fight after being KNOCKED DOWN
First fight was 113-112 second one was 115-112 pacquiao, First one marquesz won 7 rounds I think Pac won the first 2 for sure and he picked up a few othe rrounds in the fight as well. It either was 113-112 for pacquiao or marquez, very close fight no robbery, a draw result was actually fitting. Second fight i dont get the upset pacquiao won 7 rounds and scored a kd, even if you give him 6 rounds he still won. In my eyes he won both.
that first round just gave me the chills. i was more impressed by marquez's heart than any pacquaio had to offer.
Bayless let Margarito hit Cotto hard to the head when Cotto was down, yet everyone thinks Bayless is the best ref in the world. It happens.
I don't get it, you're saying you're all for robberies and crackheads ruining couches? If you're likening the fight to that rick james skit, I'd say you're pretty much in agreement with me.
You are right. I guess I had the same impression as Pacquiao or missed the hand. Your post settles it then. :good
The trolls who keep referring to JMM as pissdrinker and post nothing contributory besides the pic of Pac knocking him down need to go. This isn't a site for uneducated biased fanboy dickriders. And yes, I believe Pac was probably making sure he was down having seen it again.
I understand Pac. In the second fight, Marquez held himself up with the ropes and Pac was robbed of a KD. In the first fight, Marquez was doing the same thing but Pacquiao made sure he hit the canvass.
I've seen referees let fighters get away with worse without scoring it a KD. If Marquez's feet were in no way holding up his body and his hand was clinging to the ropes, like in the first one, that's one thing. But grabbing the rope with one hand and leaning into them I don't think warrants a knockdown.
I think if you're a fighter and your opponent is holding himself up by grabbing on to the ropes, it's better to punch him and make sure he goes down than to let him hold himself up and risk that the ref will blow the call.
