You're right, my bad, it was the second rope from the bottom out of four. Still, That rope was about knee-level for both guys. It's much the same thing IMO. Marquez's feet are way out in front of him and he is leaning back. You take the rope away and he is clearly flat on his back. The definition of a KD, i.e. being a downed fighter.
You must be a seriously frustrated cabdriver if you believe this was as bad as Abraham. The punch didn't even land clean on Marquez' face, it was more on the shoulder and it was because Marquez was holding on to the ropes to not go down. You want to see a real intentional clean punch?, watch Concheato vs Cotto after the first knockdown, that deserved an outrage, not your bull****.
It was the second rope from the top. Look at the photo.. This content is protected Pac sees Marquez trying to hold himself up, Pac hits him to make sure hes down. And theres a good chance Pac doesn't see his arm touching the ground. And if he cant see that, he has no idea if the ref is going to call it a KD. We've seen refs countless times not call a KD when the ropes held a person up.
how many times have we seen someone hit another guy when the ropes are holding him up? Wasn't Hasegawa being held up by the ropes when Montiel was hamering him? If the guy is not on the canvass, then he's fair game.
So what? Marquez got KDed 4 times. And still nearly won both fights. (1-1 imo) Boxing is about decisions and ROUNDS scored.
The worst was Marquez-Norwood. NO WAY Marquez lost THAT fight, by the way. Marquez landed a body shot ON THE BODY, Norwood complained, Cortez warned him to keep em up. This happened a few times, like, he landed a good shot, warn him about it, Cortez. Its like Marquez was trying to engage and Norwood was calling in his big brother Cortez to save him, looking over and bitching. Karma was served because Norwood would lose his O by being counted out in a 20 count by Derrick Gainer when the ref was holding his arms behind his back and Gainer combo'd his nuts flush. There the ref was Gainer's older brother.
And seriously so many of the rounds in the first fight were swing that's why the scores are all over the place. If you like aggression and punches landed you score swings for pac, if you like precision and less output but ring generalship then you score swings for Marquez, and rounds 4,5,7,8,9, and 10 were identical, whereas rounds 1,2,3,6, and 11 were clear for one guy or the other. Round 12 was different because both guys tried hard but it was still a swing like the first category. Synopsis for swing rounds: Manny is energetic, bouncing around and throwing shots, Marquez is backing up without throwing, waiting, but looking less clumsy. Finally a minute passes, Manny has thrown 25 shots, Marquez two jabs, when JMM lands with a three or four punch combination. Announcers say WOW what precision, then Pac jumps on him immediately and lands three or four punches in return, then wash and repeat. Last ten seconds Marquez tries to steal round with hard shots, but usually Pac fires right back. What do you score? Activity and landed shots by Pac when JMM hit him? Or precision and better balance of Marquez? All those rounds LOOK THE SAME. 1 was Pac. 2 was Pac. 3 was Marquez. swings until 6, huge huge huge Marquez round for sure. 7 - 10 pattern above. 11 was a big round for Marquez with more effective punches landed and finally some aggression. 12 - really good round, both guys landed their shots, I give it to Pac for slightly more aggression but could easily give it to Marquez.
