Cortez kept constantly breaking up Hatton and Mayweather for no good reason, but nobody had much of a problem with Cortez then. Now he does the same thing and breaks up Soto and Lorenzo 2 times for no good reason at the end of their fight while Lorenzo is getting pummeled.

NOW everyone can see Cortez is an incompetent referee? :huh

    Huh?

The two are in now way comparable. He broke up Hattons constant clinches as he should have done.

What he did tonight was, uhm, I don't know how to describe it. An aberration, a BIG mistake?

In no way similar to hatton/ Mayweather - in fact that fight needed a stern referee to stop hattons constant holding.

I had no problem with what he did in the Hatton Floyd fight!!!

but what i saw today was disgusting, I just hope that Soto can get the decision reversed to a NC!

The outrage was there no doubt! I was outraged. But PBF had many supporters fighting back, defending Cortez. Lorenzeno has none.

Anyway. let's just agree that Cortez sucks.

Well, that was odd, but the difference is that Hatton was thoroughly KOed.

He was **** in the Hatton fight. He was trying to break clinches before they had clinched. He was involved way too much. Took a point of hatton for missing with a punch. Ignored Mayweather elbows etc etc.

He has been **** for a while, tonight was just waiting to happen.

So why didn't he break Hopkins when he was holding Calzaghe?

Cortez ruined the Mayweather -Hatton fight. By the end of the first round it was clear that Hatton wouldn't have a chance of fighting his fight and the competition was thrown out the door.

The best part was after the fight when a happy ass Cortez was taking pictures with PBF and then after was quoted talking about dirty British fighters.

Yep, Cortez is by far the worst ref in fighting today.

Cortez isn't corrupt hes just incompetant and egotistical, he always wants to be the star of the show, exactly what a referee shouldn't be.

It seems to me he doesn't like British fighters. He said himself they were dirty.

    I think you're forgetting something.

Hatton's fight is not boxing, it's holding.

Early in the fight Cortez was breaking them up even when they weren't tangled up.

Well, Mayweather fans were probably right about probably not changing the outcome, but I had never seen a referee interfere with a fight so much in my life.
