So where were you on the night of November 22nd?

The night we saw an assassination of a champion, the night boxing found a new superstar, the night Tyson beat Berbick?

Berbick was a monster. He would beat every heavyweight champ pre-Liston.

I was only 9 years old and waiting for Hogan to face Andre at WrestleMania III.

But I remember thinking Spinks was the champion and didn't understand how there could be more than one champ in a division. Asked my father who Tyson was and he said "the next big thing".

    He sure would.

    Little doubt about that.

I was 12... it was my cousin's birthday (he turned 10). Anyway, we thought Tyson was a bad mofo. We didn't think too much of Berbick. We knew Berbick wasn't the real champ (or even the best of the alphabet champs)... and to be honest, neither was Tyson until he beat M. Spinks. I was gonna pick Tyson over everybody he fought in those days though.
