Anything other than a highlighy controversial victory or robbery victory will get him into the top 15 of all time on my list.

Seeing as how I give him basically no chance, he'd move up alot in my eyes. Calzaghe would clearly be Hopkins' best win, and to do it at that age would be extremely impressive.

If Hopkins could even just win one card and lose a split decision, I'd still be impressed because I think Joe's going to destroy him.

even if hopkins wins it won't add that much to his legacy, because he's beaten much better fighters than calzaghe.

Would Calzaghe's ranking drop if Hopkins beat him convincingly? Would you think you were wrong about Calzaghe being so good, or would you think Hopkins is just much better than you thought?

    ...like who ?

    DLH - Welterweight
    TRINIDAD -Welterweight
    TARVER - LOL
WRIGHT - LMW FIGHTING AT LHW

I'd also say Joe is a better fighter than any of Hopkins' compeititon even if they were the same weight.

It would mainly be Hopkins moving up because he'll have really outperformed what I think he's capable of right now, I'd give Bernard full credit for the win and wouldn't diminish it.

That said, Calzaghe would still drop significantly on P4P lists, but shouldn't drop on SMW lists. Because there's really only been a few big fights in Joe's career, losing this one in convincing fashion would be disastrous for how he's viewed. Because of how he performed in the Kessler fight, there won't be the excuse of Joe having lost too much and for the first time since Eubank, he's entering a big fight as the younger man.

Make no mistake though, if Bernard wins, it's over an elite fighter, and I'll gladly give him full credit for it and eat crow on the prediction.

I know Calzaghe is the real deal -- I give Hopkins very little chance to win, but if he would, he'd skyrocket upwards in my rankings, and I'd give him the virtual nod over Marvin Hagler.

Yes, I know this fight isn't being fought anywhere near middleweight, but an opponent of Calzaghe's class simply wasn't at that weight.

but of course you're forgetting that calzaghe is better than any of hopkins opponents even if they were the same weight. i mean c'mon, that's just obvious. i'm pretty sure oscar de la hoya is just a myth anyway.
