Now that there's word that Mayweather may yet still fight Khan later in the year, along with Marquez wanting Pacquiao if he gets through Bradley, we have the prospect of this scenario:

Pacquiao: 2014 wins over Bradley and Marquez
Mayweather: 2014 wins over Maidana and Khan

If recent fights are the most determinative factor in rankings, would this be enough for Pac to get back to P4P #1?

No, I think he moves to the lowest 3, and the highest 2. Floyd would still be unbeaten. on a 47 fight win streak.

He'd have to beat Floyd to get back to #1.

You have to remember, he's arguably between 6-9 now. That's not enough to jump that many places.

If he were #2 or #3 P4P now. And what you put above happened, then yeah maybe.

Back to #2, IF Ward stays inactive and Rigo doesn't get big wins of his own IMO.

Just Bradley is at least as good as Rigo's best win, and much better than Ward's best

unfortunately for Ward & Rigo... they are just not active enough. They need to fight more often.

But its the fact that he got knocked out and shoulda lost to Marquez by decision in the 3rd

P4P hes not as high as them because Marquez has his number, no one has Floyd, Ward or Rigo's number

And let's not forget we're talking about him beating a 40 year old Marquez, which could easily be by a tough disputed decision like all the others... I'd hardly think to move him up to #1 after that, even if his opponents are technically superior fighters... (I still pick Khan to beat Bradley, although I'd be rooting for Tim)

Marquez is also better than anyone Rigo and Ward have faced. No doubt the KO hurts, but it'll be 2 years old by then. But check it out, in his past 6 fights he'll have had 5 fights vs guys better than anyone on Rigo's or Ward's resume

But they've looked unbeatable, forget just wins its how they did it, Pac got knocked out and looked terrible in the 3rd Marquez fight, p4p hes not that high anymore until he beats Marquez again

It's not pnly about who you fight, it's what happens and how you look.

He lost against Bradley. Got a Gift in Marquez 3. Knocked out Marquez 4. Win Against Rios. But if he looks good in these next 2 fights, u never know.

Thats the premise of the thread, him beating Marquez. He's also looked unbeatable vs everyone but Marquez, many guys higher caliber than Rigo or Ward opponents, in his 7th weight class. The other guys are in their 1st, reluctant to move up.

P4P is ficticious, and it's only purpose is to cause arguments. Nothing about the pound for pound makes any sense. It is a matter of opinion. For example, if Floyd could fight at Hw and still carry all his assets up to that weight, he could beat a Klitschko. The reality is that if he tried to do it, hed be too fat or muscular and would get the sh*t beat out of him. In the reverse scenario, Klitschko probably dies trying to make weight.
