    1. Vitali only defeated men who beat a pre prime wlad 12-15 years ago. Wlad defeated Chris Byrd who defeated a prime vitali. Works both ways

    2. During vitalis comeback, vitali only fought 2nd raters who amounted to nothing and ducked fights with Fury Pulev Povetkin to take on Charr. Wlad meanwhile cleaned out the division's best like Povetkin haye chagaev Pulev and now fury

    3. Wlad won the RING linear title in 2009 over chagaev. Since then he has had 11 successful title defenses, and has never ducked anyone unlike other great heavyweight champions

Put their resumes together and they don't impress me. That's my bottom line . Dominant in a p*ss poor era.

Yeah, it's a lose-lose situation for Wlad. :good
    Beating Fury easily adds nothing.
If he struggles with Fury or loses to him, it hurts his legacy.

Come on, your making this out to be a prime Champion defending against Butterbean.

He's a contender, he just poses no threat to a 40 year old Wlad. Even if the people claiming Wlad would struggle with someone bigger is backing off this one.

No, it's an old Wlad versus Tyson Fury.
Losing to anyone at 39 years old would be forgiven but it would still hurt the legacy a bit.

Wlad is top ten in the history of the division right now

I guess you can't reply to the truth. Just an icon reply.

If you are on top for this long in any time line, especially one where the fighters are bigger, and hit hard you are an ATG.

Use the history of the ring. A record of 64-3, 19 title defenses and 50+ knockouts is a very small club.

All depends on the manner of victory and what Fury achieves afterwards.

I'll play. It will add for sure. How much remains to be seen. Any win over a top ten guy in his prime means something.

Suppose Wlad retires after beating Fury. And Fury, Povetkin, or Pulev go on to be viewed as the #1 guy post Wlad, it will add a lot more to his legacy.

None of these guys look bad if or when they are matched vs each other, only vs. Wlad.

If you want the straight truth, Wlad has essentially cleaned out three eras of heavyweight boxing ducking no one for a long period of time.

    2000-2005: Byrd, Barrett, McCline, Peter
2006-2010 Brewster, Ibragimov, Chagaev, Chambers, Rahman
2011 to 2016 Haye, Povetkin, Pulev, and likely Fury.

Wlad has not lost in 11+ years.

This is where it goes wrong for you. None of Wlads best wins went on to do anything.
In fact they all went on to lose or retire.

    Byrd -shattered by a LHW
    Iggy -retired
Chagg- never mixed it at world level again
Peter- brutally KO'd by average fighters. Disapeared
Chambers- Never mixed it at world level again
    Haye- Retired.
    Pulev- Disappeared
Thompson- Lost 12 -nothing against fringe contender.

    Dino,

Your not very astute, so it might please you to know that Byrd was viewed as #1 at the time, and Peter also ranked has high as #1 or #2 ( need to check ) in the world by Ring Magazine.

If you clean out #1 and #2, and beat two other guys who were ranked in the top ten what else can one ask?

Wlad's legacy will be enhanced after he retires. If Tyson Fury ends up being the top dog in the division along with Povetkin, than it only adds to it.

Can we please wait until he beats Fury, before we add the win to his resume?

We might also want to figure out how good Fury actually is.

Fury is 6'9 250lb 86" reach, 27 years old 19-0 number 4 rated in the world by RING. He is very strong, he is very good at switching from orthodox to southpaw, he moves around the ring well, he throws a lot of punches, he is great at using range and his length, he can also fight on the inside, he can punch hard when he sits on his punches

Head to head he would have been too much for most heavyweights pre 1980. Old timers who were 5'6" tall like sam Langford and tommy burns wouldn't have a chance against him

Fury HAS Improved but lets not kid ourselves here, he is only just a 3rd rate fighter.., fit enough to do the rounds and only hasn't been beaten because of his Gigantic Height & REACH, as well as picking much smaller easier opponents.

He HAS Improved, but he will never even be considered Very Good, never mind Great.

Height, REACH and Selective Picking, that's it!
