If he does, he will make my top 10 list. Ahead of Roy Jones and Pernell whitaker.

ODLH had the WBO junior lightweight and WBO middleweight when Hopkins was the real champion, that dont count.

I f Mayweather wins at middleweight he'd be the only lineal champion to have real chamionships at 130 all the way to middleweight:good

martinez is not important. Pac is. If he beats pac he is a top 10 for sure. Consider that Ray Leonard is usually considered top 10-15...leonard beat Duran (in suspicious fashion), Hears with greatness, Benitez, and edged Hagler not very impressively, and a bunch of decent fighters. He lost to Duran, he later drew with hearns and was beaten around the ring by camamcho and norris when he was past his best.

Currently his resume will include: Mosley, Hatton, DLH, A very young and great-at-the time Corrales, Castillo 2x (once not very impressively), Judah, Baldomir, Corely, Jesus Chavez, N'dou, Gatti and Mitchell That is a lot of very good fighters and a couple all-times )though DLH was pretty aged)....he needs Pac because it will mean fighting a guy at welterweight who is also an in-his-prime-ACE, world shaker, ATG etc....that would be the fight to push him over into top 10 then he would have beaten at least 3 ATG and another handfull of top-classers and another handfull of very good fighters....

If he beats Pacquiao, WILLIAMS and Martinez he will be in the top 5 all time. He has to beat Pacquiao and Williams more than he has to beat Martinez.

He has to beat a fighter nobody thinks he can beat. He already beat Mosley, a fighter as physically gifted as himself. If he beats Pacquiao he will be beating another all time great as physically gifted as himself in his prime. If he beats Martinez he wins a title at a higher than expected weightclass but only beating Paul Williams in my opinion will put him over the edge.

Beating Paul Williams is like Leonard beating Hearns. It's like Jones beating Ruiz. It's the fight nobody thinks Floyd has a chance at winning. It's Ali vs Foreman. It's Holyfield vs Tyson. It would be without a doubt the toughest fight of Floyd's career but also one of the best fights for his legacy.

This is assuming Williams remains on a rampage and Floyd Mayweather remains undefeated.

I'm aware. You're the one who specified having a piece of or the lineal title from lightweight to middleweight. Remember?

So under your original specs, that would've counted, obviously.

He is already in the top 10 in my opinion. The issue is where he stands relative to the Real Sugars that being Sugar Ray Robinson's, Sugar Ray Leonard, Ali, Marvelous Marvin Hagler, Charley Burley, Azumah Nelson, Chavez and Roberto Duran. Is he the best ever that is the question?

If he beats Pacquiao and moves up in weight and has the balls to fight Martinez or Williams hes definitely in the top ten, I'd have him tied with Roy Jones Jr. (depending on how good Williams is he might surpass Roy).

he's dodge a lot....hence the knickname cherrypicker mayweather.... i aint denying is probably the most gifted boxer of this generation if not ever....but talent is one thing and wiping divisions out and stepping upto everyone is another thing. Now this is not my arguement put forward but many say he should have shane 3-4 maybe 5 years ago, he refused to fight Margarito before his ban, retired before cotto was seen as one of the best in the division. if he goes up in weight, then needs to fight martinez, williams ans possibly cotto.

and floyd going up in weight makes it look like he's dodging Pacman...

Against Martinez I'd pick him to win but Martinez hasn't proven himself to be great or elite yet. If the Pacquiao fight doesn't go through as planned Martinez would be a good backup fight but in my opinion Martinez has to earn this fight. He has to beat Cotto or win the rematch with Williams or just beat somebody we recognize as an elite fighter.

Even if he did I don't think it would be a competitive fight for Mayweather but it would be a fight people would pay to see.

Floyd fights for money, he didnt take the fight with Margaritto because he was hoping to get a shot at the welterweight title and then the big money fight with De la Hoya which he did get. If he fights Pacquiao and Martinez or Williams and beats them, then nobody can say he ducked any fighter, because that is not a fact. He just wanted the big money fights, which Cotto and Margaritto couldnt generate. And Cotto NEVER said he wanted to fight Mayweather, I have never heard him or his promotors say it.
