When I finally saw him fight a top level fighter (DeMarco), I wasn't all that impressed with his power or skills. I think he would have a few losses by now & definitely have problems with the law outside the ring, Rest in peace!
In the ring he was the definition of Valor Anti Valeroism correlates positively with genetic cowardice
I dare any current champion to fight as great as Valero did with that nasty elbow wound. If anything De Marco fight, proved Valero can't be discouraged or shaken. He destroyed De Marco forever
Valero was a very exciting fighter to watch......................he would probably be a world champion.............
who did Valero beat to say he was going to beat them? you mentioned Khan ducking Valero, he beat better fighters than Valero
#1) There is no fighter ever who was 100% KO & champion in two divisions #2) Valero will KO Khan in 10/10 fights #3) There is no fighter better than Valero, even in the ATG list, never lost, never will :deal Valero 27-0 (KO 27) Two Division World Champion, nobody can match his short era of domination
Probably would have been fighting @ 140 . Who knows ? Broner probably would have ran into Valero before Maidana .
I saw average fighters fight with worse iniuries. It didn,t mean they were great fighters. Just a tuff guy. I watched some of his fights on youtube. He had all knockouts but they were not like ko, s that W. Gomez, J. Jackson or the G man had. He was an okay fighter.
If he wasnt such a nutter he would be very rich today and most likely been in some great fights due to the fact he would sell fights due to the excitement factor. Maybe have a loss on his record but certainly would be hanging around the ppv lists in my opinion.
Its quite sad that we did not get to see more of him, he would of brought so much excitment to boxing
A couple big wins and a couple losses into his career, a threat at 140, top 5 easy but nothing dramatic. He would not be seen as a demi-god or future HOF'er, if I had to guess...
Sadly we'll never know but anyone suggesting he'd be knocking out 154lbers with ease needs their head examined. Would have liked to see him at 140 against Garcia, Bradley and Lucas. If he wiped out a couple of them he would have been presented as a legit threat to Mayweather in another fight we prob wouldn't have seen happen
