Look at the people pep is fighting.telegraphed punches are a lot easier to avoid and people who telegraph punches are a lot easier to hit.pep isnt a patch on Floyd skillwise

see the superb punching technique and footwork on this 2 gentlemens

according to the senile old farts who haunt the classic forum, these 2 fellas would be today as competitive as they were back then, maybe even champions

and yaeh good point using a 130lbs fighter as reason why the HWs have not evolved in the past 70 years; i mean just ignore stupid facts such as boxing matches filmed if they dont fit into our agenda

Liston, Foreman etc. were the hardest punchers of their respective time, yes. Not in the division's history though. Where does this myth come from?

Jesse Owens was the fastest track & field sprinter of the 1930s. However, certainly not the fastest man in the history of the discipline.

Err, beg to differ. Yes, Louis was far more polished than Sanders but he also got dropped by LHW's. You put Wlad into the small glove era of Louis and his jab could probably hurt Louis. Sanders had a good chin and was a southpaw with a very short distance for his right hand to travel to Wlad's chin. He was also 2 inches taller than Louis and the 1930's HW's had not footspeed. And if Wlad fights Louis the legend, he prepares right. Sanders the golfer was taken lightly by Wlad.

Byrd had success against Vitali? He did well defensively, alright but who saw any chance for him to win the fight if it hadn't been stopped by Vitali? Vitali was critizised so much for quitting precisely becaue Byrd seemed like no threat.

Joe Louis would find his way to the top of any heavyweight division in any heavyweight era. I believe he would even walk down and shut up the Louisville Lip himself.

..................and either Klitschko is a better technician than Max Schmeling or Rocky Marciano. So your point was?

The fact is Sanders & Byrd fight nothing like Joe Louis. Sanders & Byrd are bith southpaws for starters and Byrd isn't known for his power but for his elusiveness.

Keep in mind that if Joe Louis lived today rather than being 6'1 3/4 and 205lbs he would be more like 6'3 and at least 215-220lbs.

Are you saying that Louis's technique was inferior and that he threw telegraphed punches? If so find a new sport to watch.

Warning : Epic ****ing video below.

P.S. Anyone know how the footage on here is so awesome? I have most of these fights and it doesn't look anything near like that?
