Joe Louis in today's division? :think

He would have started his career as a Cruiserweight. He would have competed in the rich division that had Haye, Mormeck, Braithwaite, Bell, etc. I think, no doubt, that Louis would have beaten them all and been Undisputed Cruiserweight Champion.

Then, more or less at age 27, Louis would have trained to campaign on the Heavyweight division. It would be easy for him to get a belt (average weight: 210lbs.). He would be Top3 of the division. Could very well defeat Wladimir Klitschko. It would be tougher against Vitali. Due to the size difference, I think he would have varied results in various fights against both brothers.

    Byrd was dominated by Vitali.

Sanders knocked out Wlad, that is correct.

Byrd was OUTBOXING Vitali..........hate is hate, but until you actually watch this fight, please restrain from further commenting on it.

As PS.....Byrd is like 15% bigger than Louis EVER was, and Sanders, while an underachiever has 1 punch KO power in either hand and a solid beard himself.

Put him in the 30's, raise him in a ghetto and make him fight for 20/mo and he'd be the GOAT. 225-0 225KOs

Julius Long would only be beaten by Charles, Johnson, Marciano, Louis, Ali, Patterson, Liston, Frazier, Tunney, Walcott, Sharkey, and Johanson, but as soon as a bigger NOSTALGIA HW like Carnera or Willard stepped into the ring with Long, it'd be Long TKO1......EARLY!:deal

I don't believe like some people on this forum think that Klitschko brothers will be too strong for Louis.Joe Louis was knockout machine, both Klitschkos will be KO.Lenox Lewis almost knockout Vitali and Joe Louis is harder puncher and much better finisher than Lewis. With wladimir Klitschko it will be much easier because he don't have chin.Louis was much succesfull with big fighters.Easy job for Joe Louis, best heavyweight of all time.

I guess you don't pay much attention to the olympics. Athletes today are out performing athletes of the 50s. Athletes are getting better not worse.

Good video by the way one of my favorit highlights of Louis. But the editor did use slow downs and speed ups. So its not a very good video to judge Louis by.

Joe Louis has a record of bashing up dock workers and part-time boxers, or circus acts like Carnera.

Louis would be walking through hell if thrown in the ring with half of Lewis' resume. Tua, Ruddock, Vitali, Briggs, Rahman all would be trouble for a Louis who'd actually be more of a LHW or CW today.

Can you imagine how a 195/200 lbs Louis would react if a 250 lbs hammer by the likes of Briggs or Tua dropped on him? Louis would fly through the ropes straight back to the dressing room. People really need to use some common sense and stop giving me this BS that Louis (and the other classic fighters) were super-natural beings that walk through fire and over water.

Once Louis gets caught with a big SHW punch he's out of there. Game over. Bums like Carnera had no boxing skills whatsoever and thus were unable to even land a single paunch on him. Even mediocre contenders like Briggs would demolish Louis and make it look easy.
