Don't know if it's been posted already, if so please delete...

Anyways...in case this thread makes it to the new year, obviously I'm talking about the 00's decade. To me this decade shaped up to be real good with great fights, new stars, the richest fight ever, etc...the only decade I would put over this is the 80's. What's ur guys take?

Strong era of top fighters floating through the Welter range
at certain stages, Mosely, Floyd, Pac and Oscar would all
hold their own in any era.

Id say a very weak era of Heavyweights though.

Im hoping it will be looked upon as a poor one. In 20 years time if we look back and think this was top drawer then we are really in trouble.

Heavyweight is poor and has been for a while, lower divisions are all good or great in my opinion.

I think it was, except for the HW division, a great era.. With loads of exciting fights between top fighters of their division.. I think, especially the 2nd half of this era, that almost all fights that has to be made, were made... we were really blessed..

i think the decrease of the popularity of boxing was the reason for that

Pretty interesting and strong, if you consider we have about 10-15 active ATG
boxers who were fighting this decade its way above average in the boxing history.

The only drawback is the HW division who is not much interesting due to
lazy, boring, nonexciting and fat contenders.

good era, a lot of fighters from this era will be considered great fighters in years to come: Pacquiao, Mayweather, Mosley, De La Hoya, Hopkins came on in this era, etc.

Without Pacquiao it would be among the poorest eras in memory.

I have to agree with this, I'm afraid. How many top ATGs have we had come out in this era, compared to that of the 90s, 80s, 70s and 60s? A handful at most.

True. I'd say the same thing about Mosley and Mayweather too.

its a year to be marked on history with a boxer earning the first 7 wieght division championship. there will be great boxers but may take another 10-20 years to make.

Its alot better then people think. With the phenomanil welterweight division and the ever improving heavyweight division it puts boxing in a great spot as we enter the next decade

Boxing has expanded and become much more global this decade, even if it has fallen off in the US it has become a much bigger sport world wide.

This decade has produced more fights since the 1930's.

More fights = More fighters = Better fighters

Men and Women lie, numbers don't.
