He's certainly not within smelling distance of the titans of Greb, Robinson, Armstrong, Charles, Langford, etc. You would probably have a difficult time comparing him to recent greats who had somewhat similar career paths, as well. James Toney comes to mind. However Alvarez is nearing the Mexican top-10.
