...based solely on skills? I'm not talking accomplishments here. Based only boxing skill - technical prowess, overall ring generalship and IQ - where would you place him on an atg list? FMJ haters...please try to be objective.

I'd rank him top 10, un questionable, top 5 arguably.

I just can't look at it like that-I mean skillwise he is great-I understand he may be the best to ever do it "skillfully"..

I put Floyd in my top 35-40 ATG list-He has only one "contested" victory in 42 wins-

He has beaten 5 top 10 lb 4 lb fighters AT THE TIME THEY WERE TOP 10-

The FACT that he has only been knocked down 1 time (officially-and it was not from a punch) shows me that he has a lot of versatility-

He is always ready to fight the highest ranked fighter-

HE GETS "$HIT"FOR BEING LOYAL TO THE WBC BUT HEY-IF THATS THE BELT HE FEELS IS THE "LEGIT" ONE THEN IT IS WHAT IT IS-

7 time champion in 5 different weight classes-

Skillfully his footwork is the best I've ever seen-Floyd has a SOLID CHIN and his speed is WELL BEYOND AVERAGE, and at 35, he is still one of the fastest in the sport-

He is the most versatile fighter in the sport today, and he has been for about 7 years now.

To the TS, I just cant look at it from a "skill" pov-I have to take into account EVERYTHING (INCLUDING BEING THE GOAT AT 130 ARGUABLY).

Sdfinest, I understand what you mean, but you basically answered the question anyway. Even though you didn't say it outright, its obvious you'd rank him as highly as I do, skills-wise.

    KEYWORD-AVAILABLE

Floyd made it clear from day one that any opponent fighting him would have to take random blood and urine tests-

Manny Pacquiao, for whatever reason, decided not to-

THE LB 4 LB RANKINGS READ FOR THE MOSLEY FIGHT

    1 PACQUIAO
    2 MAYWEATHER
    3 MOSLEY

Floyd took on the best available WW not named Pacquiao next as Pac only went up to "7 days" for a cutoff and Floyd had a 0 tolerance on the drug testing.

WW rankings at the time Floyd fought Ortiz read as

    1 Pacquiao
    2 Mayweather
    3 Ortiz

    Again-THE BEST "AVAILABLE"

NOTICE HOW WHEN PAC SAYS HE'LL TEST-FLOYD STARTS CALLIN HIS A$$ OUT N PAC HAS TO "THINK ABOUT IT" FOR A WHILE:deal:think

    You can't be a GOAT if you're a duck.

Just because I'm no longer wow'ed by Pac, doesn't mean I suddenly have new respect for Floyd.

Time for the next generation of welterweights to take center stage. Let the old men retire.

Skill wise, how many fighters have been better than him defensively and offensively.

Pac was available. If Floyd hadn't asked for OSDT, the fight would have happened. He introduced the element that derailed the fight.

Also, Cotto, Margarito, and Mosley were available after Floyd beat Hatton. But Floyd went on vacation.

He's up there between top 40-50 ATG's but he can't be ranked on skill alone because if it weren't for ATG's like SRR, Pep, Ali, SRL etc. Floyd would not have learned the "skills" in which to hone his craft.

    top 30.

but he could easily make 15 or even 10 if he beats pacquiao convincingly, which i think he will when the fight happens.

it all depends on who his competition is from here on but thats not really a problem b/c floyd has a history of picking out fighters coming off big wins. although if he reallllly wants to cement his legacy as an atg id go as far as top 5 if he could beat pac sergio and khan before retiring.
