Pacman is already an ATG regardless of the spence fight

The level of ATG-ism once you reach that point implies way more than victories or fights. At the very top ATG level (srr, durán, armstrong, louis...) you need way more than winning fights to good fighters.

And imho pacman cant reach this level.

And imho pacman will not stop being an ATG if he gets his crap beaten out by spence.

Imho this fight is irrelevant legacy-wise for pacman.

What's the argument for Duran>Pacquiao at this point?

It's hard to compare his career since no one else took his path.

If he had been more normal, started at 126 then ruled 135/140 with an iron fist for 15 years would that be better or would he have just gotten lost in the crowd?

I have both Floyd and Pac in the top 10 somewhere.

The classicals will bite me, but I have tried to be impartial about it, and I think they have very strong arguments.

That said, my knowledge is lacking with pre-1950s fighters, I've watched some of their fights, read up on the significance of their fights, but it's hard to grasp it fully when you're so far removed from it and 99% of fights weren't even on tapes. The culture was just very different too, fights every couple of weeks but mostly against bums, more of a US sport rather than global etc.

It's a bit like comparing Royce Gracie to Khabib, different eras.

Certainly though, they're up there with the modern greats, Ali, Duran, SRL, Louis, Foreman, heck, even SRR. Although with SRR, looking at the historic names on his resume, it seems he stands above the rest.

To start with he didnt lose the most important fight of his life.

If you think that pacquiao ranks higher than durán, then you should probably go back to watch football.

The No Mas fight was the most important fight of Duran's life. Not only in terms of his own legacy, but in Ray's legacy and boxing history in general.

nah, that's not true. The no mas fight is a re-match, and he didnt even train properly for it. It's stupid to say what you said.

Pac Man is already a modern ATG, but there's different levels even in greatness. If 42 years of age Pacquiao beats Spence, it's a fabulous win in the circumstances.
Manny might be deserving of a top 15-20 all time ranking perhaps.
