Yeah, Robinson up to 7-1-51 was 128-1-2! Can you imagine that! And undefeated as an amateur, 60-0. Hard to argue against Robinson but I didn't have the pleasure of watching him fight.

    This statement is
almost as dumb as this one:
If he fought these guys (who are all a notch lower than Toney, Bhop and The body snatcher) he would be top 15-20. As it stands I say between 30-40, perhaps a bit higher but his stock has diminished greatly by losing to the likes of Tarver, Johnson and Calzaghe (even though he was shot beyond ****).

Based on skill alone he's way up there. Based on his opponents and career as a whole, quite a bit lower.

Even though I find showboating during fights lame and unnecessary, he is one of my favourite fighters.

If you can't judge athletes don't post and make it so obvious.

    Prime for prime,

Calz would need a telescope to see the bottom of Roy's shoes

But what people have to realize is fighters are so much more highly trained today. And almost all of the old greats, lost to nobodies late in their careers.

I guess the bottom line for me is it is unfair to compare fighters from different eras. Most pro athletes from 50 to 100 years ago couldn't even compete against today's stars. Guys are bigger, faster, stronger in every way. I think there was a hell of a lot of mediocre, inferior competition way back when. If you look at Robinson's career, he fought many fights with only a week's rest. That would be impossible today. You simply could not do it.

And today, once you are considered a star or a rising star, almost all of your fights are against guys that have a proven track record. That wasn't the case back then. You basically traveled around the US and fought the best guy in a given city or area. Today's stars are constantly fighting the best from around the world.

He was a drugs cheat for his entire career. Hence all his "victories" should be wiped from the slate.

Additionally, he was a shameless COWARD and a DUCKER.

Roy Jones was a glass jawed fraud.
His career consisted mainly of either has beens , much smaller men and usually both .
His best wins may be his so close decision over Hopkins (which should better been a draw), his stoppage over Clinton Woods and beating of Julio Gonzalez followed by a 10 rds decision over Jorge Castro, something a shot Duran managed too, except that he did it over 12, whereas Jones did only over 10 or he might had been gassed out over d course of 12. He was already clinching 4 his life as short as it was.
His 1st rd stoppage over Montell Griffin was caused by Griffin's not being allowed d time needed 4 him 2 get his muscles warmed so he was caught cold, but 2 make sure the readers comprehend it, I do not claim it was even a fluke, just a planned scam by Jones' management/ promoters and probably by him as well.
When Jones fought Tarver, it was Tarver being the more w8 drained and not d contrary which is most liars want u 2 believe, each liar and his own reason 4 lying. Tarver was also d older man, and went through a cocaine abuse earlier in his life, something Jones did not go through.
With Glen Johnson, Johnson and Jones were of same age, except that Johnson took much more punishment during his career prior 2 their fight due 2 Jones' handpicking of smaller hasbeens and Johnson's roadwarriorness.
So even Johnson & Tarver were more shot than Jones was when they stopped him, plus they did not need a scam 2 beat Griffin.

    I have him top 30-50.

He could have been top 10, he had the ability and the fighters around him to create a great enough legacy but chose the path of least resistance after beating Toney. He never beat the true champ at light heavy in DM. He moved up to light heavy when the biggest names and challenges were at 168lbs. There's also the taint of the failed drug test which puts a big question mark over all his achievements.
