Where would you rank the Pacquiao-Marquez Trilogy all-time?

I think alotta people are answering with too much emotion involved. Take the official results out of the equation for a second...In terms of competitiveness, this is the only trilogy I could think of in which there were so many swing rounds that each fight could've easily gone the other way. So right off the bat it fits the criteria of an atg trilogy.

From a stylistic matchup kinda view, it gets more brownie points. Neither holds a size advantage over the other. On one side you got the ultimate offensive machine....a power puncher with speed pop and stamina. Than on the other, you got the ultimate counterpuncher....a savvy veteran, who don't wilt under pressure.

Then you got the big name quotient. Pac is arguably a top30 atg, whereas JMM is top 50-80(in my book). This isn't 2nd tier talents like Rafa Marquez and Izzy, Gatti and ward....these are 2 of the best fighters of this generation regardless of weight. And yes, they were actually fighting for belts for those who thinks that even matters at this level.

So all these into consideration, imo you got the second best trilogy of all time. The first of course being Ali-Frazier.

First fight was great, second was very good and third was good.

In term of competition, it has to be up there with the Barrera/Morales.

    I prefer Ali Frazier trilogy.

Also i preferred Morales Barrera due to the hatred.

Then probably this in 3rd place for me. I think I'd have preffered it if Marquez won the final fight. I think it would have had a nicer feel to it.

    great post.

I agree too. Posts about how marquz dominates Pac are ******ed. These 2 could fight 100 rounds and they'd probably fight to a draw. There styles mix together crazy well.

No, you call it a draw, and if not for a judging error it would've been a win for Pac. The romanticism of Marquez working his way back into the fight has no effect on the proper scoring of it round by round. If emotion played a part in scoring Arturo Gatti would be undefeated.

For me it was a great trilogy, one of the best and tightest between two elite warriors. The only aspect that ruins it for me is having to put up with the excessive crying and overly-emotional hyperbole of fans and haters surrounding the outcomes (example, poster above claiming Pacquiao was on the end of a massive ass whooping getting a draw after the KD's:patsch), which has drawn ultimate attention away from how great the fights were.
